First answer no :) Fact.
Second that wasn't a problem for Malthouse at the time, not a game they couldn't win according to him. Spin it anyway you want but after that statement he shouldn't be taken serious anymore.

Bit like when Ed said we can win premiership this year, good fit those 2, shame we split them up.

Genuine question to the believers..

How long do you give Bucks? How many seasons before you say.. that's enough!?

And what are your expectations this year and next?
This season maybe next if there is a positive trend.

When you ask seriously I'm happy to answer.
When you look like you are clowning around eg "the believers," it's not worth bothering to answer.
This club is not a sect or cult. Though there is some fantastical disposition.

Just a general inquiry, do AFL laws prohibit recruiting of staff during the season (or at least from fellow clubs)? Say if Bucks was sacked (fingers crossed), would Collingwood be able to launch a mid-season contract to someone like Brett Ratten (for example)? Or is that now allowed

No it's definitely allowed... just depends whether or not you need the other clubs approval first. (either officially or implied... but most clubs I think would be accepting if it's someone moving up into a higher role).

It's common for assistants to be poached from a club mid finals-series, the majority of whom then immediately leave their current club and move to their new employer.
This would be no different, given that the season isn't officially finished at that stage.

It wasn't clowning around there are 2 definitive groups.. the doubters and believers.

Apologies if it came off that way.

The present is the cause of that. It's a disaster!
It's not a disaster, it's just not good enough.
Spoons are disaster (we have two too many too)

I think its an unwritten rule that if u get a senior coaching gig, a role higher than u currently hold at your present club, u can leave.
Normally that club frog marches them out the door

So let's say we finish 11th this year and 9th next year?

Is that acceptable in 5/6 years..?
I will let you know at the end of the season what would have been acceptable given the circumstances.

Read my post. Ed is responsible for installing the current coach and his system.

And he escapes without anyone saying thr Succession Plan might of Failed badly

Just throwing this question out there...

Does anybody in this board actually think Bucks will turn this around and make the finals?

I think he has no chance.

At the Moment - It be a Mircale

All involved in the football side of things have to turn it around.

I'm leaning towards missing finals but I've felt that way since before the real stuff started.

For what it is worth I see no benefit in terminating Bucks contract this year. He should be given the year to turn things around. If as expected we miss the finals there needs to be an independent review of all aspects of the football department. Evidence from the review would then be used as a basis for decisions moving forward. The review should be conducted by experts with no affiliation with the club.

I actually reckon we are still a chance if we can turn 5/3 after round 8 obviously only dropping to WC in Perth.
The big IF is if Buckley releases the shackles and simplifies the game he wants the players to play, this team is capable of playing some really really good footy and I think that in a lot of ways Bucks is his own worst enemy and tries to re-invent the wheel by over thinking the game and trying to implement that on the players.

It's a huge challenge for Bucks and his team. I want to believe that he will get the team playing the style of footy they are capable of. Right now the list is performing at about 30% of capability.

Right now we are one of the teams in contention for the spoon.

The evidence is overwhelming that the succession plan has failed. There would need to be a complete turn around for that to change.

Yep. It is very much still possible.

There are 19 rounds of football left. It is a long season, and we are only 3 rounds in. (We may have fallen flat on our face at the first hurdle... but this is a steeplechase, not a 110m sprint... to stay with the hurdles analogy)

We would need at least 10 (most likely 11) wins to make it.
That's not a particularly more difficult task than winning 11, or 12, out of 22.

Our results and our form has been shit, but our actually W-L record is not really a problem at this stage. I think most would've tipped us to be 1-2 at this stage given our opposition - just disappointing that we lost comfortably to a team we should of beat, and only just got over the line against a team that is struggling just as much as us.

Obviously we have to turn it around, and we have to do so quickly... but couldn't really have asked for a much better schedule to be heading into at a time like now. The next couple of months is the period the team MUST turn this around, and that starts this weekend.

By Round 8 we may well be 5-3. (I would tip at least 4-4, and I very, very much doubt it will be less than 3-5... if it is then Bucks could very well be gone). Get to that point, and suddenly anything can happen, and we should at least be in a position to be competing for the 8.

No. There are the panic merchants and level headed ones. Just because we don't cave in doesn't mean we don't have doubts. I believe that the season only just started and it has been very disappointing. Bucks got 19 matches to make things right.

If we go down the ladder again at the end of the year my scone will officially be done.

Off u go then, that can be your homework for tonight.
I would but rehashing events that occured 5 years ago in order to validate points now, seems kind of pointless.
