just wondering if anyone has ever seen this hitchcock movie before and what did you think of it.
i got it today in the magazine what dvd? it was a full free dvd that was included on the front of the magazine
a pretty good deal if you ask me considering the magazine only cost me 10 bucks and dvd's go for a fair bit more than that
as of yet i havent actually watched it,but will be in the next couple of days when i get the chance

The book is a favourite of mine but I didn't actually know Hitchcock had made a film of it.

I'm more familiar with the 1978 film version - that was pretty good.

Whats the Hitchcock version like ?

Its a great story and heaps better than any 'modern' spy thriller, its got a complicated and involved plot with lots of great dialogue.
Not much in the way of cool gadgets, hot babes, car chases and explosions but instead its a real story with real characters that have depth and emotionally involve the reader.

Is it the Kenneth Moore one? If so, its pretty good. Give it a go, its great pulp fiction (no, no shooting...not the film)

The original 39 steps with Robert Donat is a great flick. the dialogue is witty and the banter between Donat & Madeline Carroll is classic romance/comedy stuff. Hitchcock did this so well in The Lady Vanishes, Young & Innocent ,the Man Who Knew Too Much and Foreign Correspondent . I was lucky a few years ago that I managed to get these English Hitchcock's which have less spectaclular effects than the Hollywood Hithcock but I love their dry humour and suspense. Good Hollywood ones of course are famous Rear Window, North by Northwest Notorious etc etc all retain that dry humour from the early films.

Havn't seen it.

I've only ever seen Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho, and the Birds. Just those four, for me.

Of them, Rear Window was the best.

Hitchcock

I personally am building a Hitchcock collection of films.

A couple of months ago, the ABC played some of his real old work late at night during a special week. The films they played were the 39 Steps, Young and Innocent, The Lady Vanishes, Sabotage and his first ever thriller, the silent classic The Lodger,

For those who have Foxtel, Bill Collins on Channel 6 - Fox Classics is currently going through a series of Hitchcock films, although I don't think there is another one this month.

He has recently played Rope, The man who knew too much, The Trouble with Harry, Vertigo, The Birds, Strangers on a Train and Sabateur (last Saturday) He has promised to play Psycho and Marnie in the coming weeks.

Encore is currently playing Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Family Plot and Sabatage while TCM always has North by Northwest on at some stage.

Most of his films are available on Video or DVD, but if you happen to see Rear Window for sale, buy it as it is difficult to get.

Other of his classic films include Dial M for Murder and Stage Fright. And they are all well worth seeing.

Watch out for the Hitchcock Cameo's in every film.

He appears near the end of the 39 Steps.

I guess so am I....these two are great...very funny dialogue as well as a mystery. LOL The two blokes constantly arguing about cricket in The L.V. pop up in a later Hitchcock but I can't remember which one.

Porthos...I love Charade.....two great stars and great locations but not Hitch. See To Catch a Thief!
