Anthony Miles and Sam Lloyd playing in our VFL team, both are just on the fringed of selection but both mature and dominate the VFL and both have shown good AFL form when called upon, if Carlton don't target these two as priority mature age recruits then Carlton aren't fair dinkum about this rebuild.

Granted, I don't think it's a bad idea to approach these two players - given our relatively terrible depth in the positions they play - but it's a bit dumb to say that, just because we don't approach two blokes of the 700 or so listed AFL players we aren't fair dinkum.

Just a random question as I didnt really see the Fisher trip in its entirety - how was that not a tripping charge against the player that got him?

GO Catters

Yep, just like Selwood's trip last week, only Howe doesn't play for Geelong.

Sadly many involved at the club have now accepted "This is Carlton"

This efforts are now acceptable.

The off field situation is really as concerning as the on field. Barely 10,000 more members than small teams like Saints and Dogs (both who are struggling) and nearly half of Richmond.

This is a club that use to call themselves "A big 4 club"

Some how SOS has convinced picking up these "salary dumps" is part of some master plan. Why take salary dumps on players who simply can't play the game. Surely SOS would have been better attracting guys like

Marley Williams for pick 100
Luke Hodge for Nothing
Hayden Crozier for not much
Jordan Lewis for virtually nothing

Ect

Guys who can actually play. Not guys SOS brought to GWS and couldn't make it and IMO trying to save face about his horrible draft choices. Bring in some experience not GWS spuds. Every clubs have guys on the border or their list Carlton should have targeted.

The club is truly in a toilet on and off the field.

Can't agree with that. The start of next season will mark four years since Silvagni's 66-game rebuild saw daylight. I don't think a one-win season should have been expected, nor should be accepted as a compulsory stage of the process.

I guess that's the difference between Carlton and Richmond supporters in a nutshell. The club hates it, but Richmond supporters would bring pressure to bear on the club.
We all got a laugh from that wacky Focus on Footy bunch! Were they all at the MCG for the flag last year?

Proof? Unless you mean they've accepted the injuries and "this is Carlton" is referring to the the best available players that are fit enough to play a game

Despite how shit we've been for the last 15 years, Carlton are still breaking club membership records and from all indications within the club, there's still stability and a positive mindset among a very tight knit playing group.

I honestly think you're just making all this "off-field" shit up because you can't find any other logical reason to call players drafted 2 years ago busts.

At least you used hindsight to list a bunch of players we should've got to get us to maybe 2-3 wins, so your comment wasn't completely baseless.

Was talking about the rank and file weearing their heart on their sleeve. Carlton supporters tend to cop what the club throws up. Then again, success was never too far away in the days when the chequebook could solve problems quickly. Chronic failure is new to Carlton.

Sorry but if you think Carlton should be satisfied with 50k members when Richmond has 100k, Pies and Hawks 70k plus then again shows your accepting this mediocrity Like i said you are around 10,000 infront of Stkilda and Bulldogs. That is a HORROR stat for what use to be one of the biggest clubs.

The funny guy with the weird hair and mo’ still shows his face around everywhere without shame. Fair enough he just wanted what we wanted, and he got it

Stop talking rubbish. The blues are the worst team in the comp and still have 50K members. If they were top 4 team they have would have 200k members.

Every year that goes by Carlton loses a generation of supporters.
Being non competitive is starting to be instilled into it's culture.

In 2009 Carlton had 6,000 more members than Richmond, in 2018, Carlton have 45,000 less than Richmond. Utter disgrace.

In 2009, Carlton had 3,000 less members than Collingwood, in 2018, 30,000+ less.

AFL members have almost doubled the last 10 years, Carlton’s have increased by a measly 20%

Collingwood grew from 48,000 to 71,000 from 2010 to 2011.

Richmond grew from 75,000 to 100,000 from 2017-2018.

Since GWS entered the comp, their membership has doubled.

Bulldogs increased by 80% in the last 10 years.

Essendon gone through the biggest drug scandal and increased excellently, become stronger for it, Carlton haven’t.

In the last 10 years, their numbers haven’t steadily grown like Richmond and Collingwoods. They haven’t improved the way any team in the comp has, they’ve fallen massively behind. They’ve flat lined.

Cool, clubs gained band wagoners on their premiership year.

Welcome to every single successful team of every single sporting organisation in the history of mankind.

Source: I go for Golden State because they are good.

Geez didn’t know Essendon going 20,000+ up on you after a drug scandal and no finals win in 5,000 days constitutes band wagoners after a ‘premiership’ season.

A grade post. Proves my point.

Their club is in absolute turmoil and the fans “trust the process”

The kids are running around like headless chickens and sos is compiling the one of the worst lists of all time.

Way to go , choose some stats to support an argument, then roll with it.
Richmonds membership increased on the back of a premiership ( 2017)
Collingwood membership increased on the back of a premiership ( 2010)
2009 - where did carlton finish on the ladder , and where was Richmond?
What a crap statistical argument you provide .
Carltons membership should not be the focus here . The minute they find an ounce of success, the supporters will jump back on board and everyone knows it.
Ps- if Richmond have 100k members, why dont they all turn up to games ? Just have a think about who exactly is signed up here ........

Hasn’t it come out recently that membership numbers are a bit of a farce anyway as there are $30 ones available and pets memberships and shit? I dare say there’s a more analytical approach clubs go for that runs a bit deeper than just numbers.

50k for where Carlton is currently at isn’t bad and there aren’t far more pressing issues to discuss.

I gotta agree, I work with numbers on a daily basis and I'm almost offended someone attempted to pass this off as sound statistical evidence.

Gee, you don’t think that has something to do with the Essendon supporters being a bit deluded about the whole thing and signing up to give extra support in a dark time? That whole drug saga did the complete opposite to what you’d expect. Fans didn’t turn away, they supported them even more.

Plus since 2012 Bombers fans have been talking up their list big time. Constantly thinking they’re on the cusp of something.

From 2009 until now Carlton fans have had a lot to disagree with the club about and they’ve been shit since 2014, so hardly surprising we’ve fallen behind other big clubs.
