That's why I mentioned the chance of better odds. This bloke never says die in terms of Australia losing Ashes series.
I hope he's loaded, as that's a crazy amount to be betting on a team who've basically never played here - except for their two champions - who have previously not been champions here.

It's been standard fare for inexperienced Australian tourists. Paceman getting excited by the bounce and bowling too short and batsmen playing at too many outside off and nicking off.

Thanks for being candid. Ballsy bets that's for sure.

Not trying to rub it in but let's be frank. You didn't sound like it less than an hour ago.

If you think you've most likely done your dough how can you be pretty confident of winning? Pretty enigmatic statements read together to be fair..

To be honest, it is more of a hedge.

Well, the saviours of Test Cricket have showed up with a toothless performance and as usual are performing worse than even the smaller Test nations who have far less of a stake in or preparation time available.

I was crossing my fingers for a competitive series but it's not to be. With Cummins coming back I'll be shocked if it's not at least 4-1.

On the plus side for England, this should at least be the catalyst for getting rid of McCullum and getting back to actual Test Cricket.

This England team actually has talent but it has been squandered by a culty, vibes mindset perpetrated by someone who is good at lifting people up when they're down, but that's about it.

Brook is genuinely a world class talent but this setup is bringing out the worst in him, probably Jamie Smith too. Root is the only one who is still his old self.

The implosion we're seeing is basically the England players running out of Koolaid to drink. They were high as a kite, but when they're actually facing the pressure of an Ashes out in the middle all the pep talks and one-on-one psychology meetings with Brendan no longer cut it and reality creeps in.

Where to from here? Pope will likely be dropped permanently after this Test, replaced with Bethell and they probably bring in Bashir and Tongue. Their reserve options are pretty limited so nothing will change.

Down to only Starc, and this is the fight England has?

Absolutely pathetic and soft.

And I’m allllll here for it. Hilarious. Just give Stokes a knighthood for his ‘services to sport’ to top it off

This has to be 5-0 whitewash. England’s only chance was the first two tests without Hazlewood and Cummins. Yet again they’re a feeble and soft bunch thinking they’ve seen Mitch Johnson reincarnated.

Just looking up his stats now and the thing that sticks out for me is that he's played 62 test matches. I would've guessed somewhere between 30-40. About as average a record as you'd get, FC record good though.

It's funny how cricket has changed , once upon a time 60 tests was 10-15 years worth of test cricket.

Though in this day and age it's still a lot test matches to play to still be undecided wether you are up to it or not.

The poms are going to lose and be 2 down against our ****ing awful attack.
Nobody has got anything unplayable in 2 games
They just get themselves out
177 behind, guess what you have to do? Occupy the crease.
Mccullum and Stokes can't survive a beating from our shit 11.

Broad “England are playing at about 10 to 20% of its potential”

This is why this series has been so satisfying so far, they STILL are managing to just so seriously over rate this team. Root is world class, Brooks on his way but still has work to do. Outside of that it’s seriously not that good.

The dwarf is solid but nothing special, Pope and Crawley suck. Smith has talent a a long long way to go. Archer one of the most overrated bowlers to ever touch down in Australia, no legitimate spinner.

They still want to believe this is some amazing team who is just underperforming

The collapses on nights 1 and 3 tore the heart out of the England totals.

Night 1 went from 4/210 to 9/264 - lost 5/54
Night 3 went from 1/90 to 6/128 - lost 5/38

That can happen with the pink ball, but in Perth they lost 5/12 in 3 overs on day one, then 9/99 on day 2.

You can lose a session, but you cant collapse in one as it can cost you the game.

In the end of the day, coming over with this bowling line-up, with no preparation is sackable. None of them are test match fit. Had only one good short session in Perth in them. Woods has already broken down, Archer not bowling over 140km anymore, Carse and Atkinson have bout 2 good overs in them and Stokes, though battles hard, is cramping up and looks spent. And this is coming off Perth where they only bowled 74 overs for the whole match and had a 2 week break. With Cummings back in Adelaide and a fired up Lyon wanting to prove a point, I can see this series all but over in Adelaide and quite easily being a whitewash.

Played enough low grade cricket to realise all a wicket keeper has to be is competent.

It is the most overrated position in cricket.

There, I said it.
The harder wickets are to get, the more valuable a good keeper is.

Australia.clearly got the best of the batting conditions, suddenly the ball is talking when night came around
I mean, they let us bat and bat and bat during the day. It's why they needed to get rid of Starc and Boland early, before they'd face 10 balls.

It's a pink ball test, and it's always been the case that the ball does the most in the final session. England didn't even attempt to use the final session of Day 1 to grab a few early wickets, and didn't maximise their use of the evening session on day 2, before allowing Starc and Boland to chew up 35 overs between them.

England haven't played to the conditions, and have only themselves to blame for it.
