the only redeeming thing i can see about it is that elvis can take a mark and other than fyfe, our marking has been mediocre this year. still, i agree with sentiments that it's crazy talk. i don't know why we'd put our best backman forward. sure, snos is looking the goods, but i'd prefer we lock down defence, make the back 50 an impenetrable zone and maybe, i don't know, PLAY PAV IN THE FORWARD 5O if we're missing a target.

Gee that sounds way too logical

Strangely, Pav had his best game with at least 50% time forward. Palmer improved when played midfield. And Clarke went from looking out of place to looking like he belonged when he started rucking after Sandi went down. Who could have guessed?

Some of the selections and positionings have been worse than questionable all year - the Clarke one is bordering on unhinged considering our midfield is severely depleted with injury (it would be okay to experiment if we almost had our best midfield in place).

Maybe when we had majority of our best team on the park, Harvey found less room to be cooky with the whiteboard?

back on topic, is there any players likely to retire at the end of this year that would be a goer in the coaches box? personally i doubt brogan would fit the bill, and daniel bradshaw is setting up a personal trainer business...... maybe darrren milburn? he hasnt stated that he will retire, but he is getting on

What about looking at Hase? He'd probably make a pretty good assistant, working on our forwards. That said, it would probably be better if he picked up some experience at another first to expose him to a different environment.

I still think we should be doing all we can to strengthen our coaching department to assist Harvey. Any additional capabilities would be useful next year especially when we should be (hopefully) making a very determined run at our first flag!

Not sure how old he is, and is still going great guns so not likely to retire this year.. but someone like Jude Bolton would be good.. been part of a cracking team and club, speaks well in the media, got the absolute most out of himself and seems like a guy who would install fire and confidence into the blokes around him

Anyone from sydney would be a awesome pickup.

They have never had much talent but their culture brings the best out of every player.
Anytime u play sytdney no matter whos in or out u know its gonna be a great contest.

Would love to get some of that attitude here.

If they play mcpharlin forward im sure he will get about 3 goals.
Then wont get any for the next few games same as always.

brett kirk would be an awesome get, will never happen though

I've posted before on this subject and I'm by no means suggesting that Harvey isn't up to the job. I think he measures up pretty well but I also have some doubts about how strong he is in a couple of areas.

I see Harves as a bit of a blunt instrument. Now blunt instruments can be very effective and are indeed crucial for forging most things, but you can't create a true work of art just by bashing away at it with a blunt instrument, you need some finer tools in between acting as a buffer and directing the force in the right directions at the right times.

Then get his brother Craig as the backline coach. All fixed
