In regards to SAPOL, I was told first hand that there is a whole department of the police officers that work solely on SA cold cases. Given the number of cold cases in SA, they may be stretched. It appears they have, and I'm really keen to understand how this works. We recently heard NSW police state they don't want to use resources on Wanda Beach when they could work on 'solvable' cases instead.
Entirely the wrong attitude, IMHO.
Do state police departments get to choose what they do and don't work on? I appreciate they have finite resources, which is why I'm an advocate of a third party for cold cases, a national body with funding to keep these cases alive when local LE have lost the trail.
Do any such third parties exist for investigating cold cases on a national level? Does anyone know? Id be more than happy if my tax dollars funded this.
I do not believe they employ third parties
