Bob Dylan, stupidly overrated.
Cloud Control are the best Australian band going around at the moment.
Soundgarden were the best band from the 'grunge scene' NOT nirvana.
Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain.

I don't think many say Nirvana are the best... Most influential no doubt.

Wico >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> REM

I can't argue too much with that... I just think REM's best is better than Wilco's best. Automatic for the People/Murmur/Lifes Rich Pagent >>>> Yankee Hotel Foxtrot/Being There/A Ghost is Born.

radiohead is boring

Agreed. I never got Radiohead. Supposed to rival Oasis as the great UK band of the 90's and 00's but they were just flat out boring whereas Oasis were awesome.

I liked Creep, Fake Plastic Trees and one other song which escapes me right now but the rest was just boooorrrrriiiiiiiiinnnnnnng.

Ray Davies was a far superior song writer to Lennon/McCartney.

:thumbsu:

Davies and The Kinks don't get nearly the adoration and attention that they deserve. Most people seem to know just three songs from The Kinks ("You Really Got Me", "All Day and All of the Night", "Lola"), and that's a travesty IMO.

That being said, IMO, Paul Weller > Ray Davies > Lennon/McCartney, even if Weller was greatly influenced by those who proceeded him.

agreed, but to have him ahead of lennon/mcartney is well just.........silly

I bet you don't even know 10-20% of all the songs Davies wrote.

they were quite literally along with oasis the first band i 'got into' when i was like 10, and trust me i've pumped album after album and know most of theier stuff

Picking those two as your favourite songs and comparing Oasis to Radiohead... yeah it's pretty clear why you aren't a fan.

You don't like those two?
Early Radiohead is ordinary but Creep is brilliant.
Fake Plastic Trees is one of my all time fave Radiohead songs, probably top 5.

You might want to listen to OK Computer a few more times before you write them off. Not everything you listen to is an instant top 40 hit, the best songs take time to fully appreciate and there is no better example than Radiohead.

Trust me mate, ive tried. Everyone raves about them, but to me, they are just boring. Fake Plastic Trees though is one of my favourite tunes. But the rest of their stuff is just epically shite.

Oasis shit on Radiohead.

Well fair enough if you don't like some of their stuff, after all everyone has different tastes and opinions when it comes to music but to call OK Computer shite is just plain wrong.

It wasn't voted Q magazine's greatest album ever for nothing.

I like Oasis too, well their first two albums anyway, but they don't come close to matching Radiohead's body of work.

To go on with the Radiohead thing, alternative rock Radiohead>>>>>>>>>>>>> ambient electronic radiohead, with In Rainbows being the exception, and it's not really ambient anyway. I have Kid A and I just can't listen to it.

Radiohead last year was probably my favorite musical artist/act of all time but i'd have to say after extensive listening Elliott Smith > Radiohead.

Yes I do like depressing music. :o

Just to get off the Radiohead argument;

Call#1 The Whitlams are one of the most underrated Australian acts in the modern(ish) era

Call#2 The Australian Music scene will be poorer with the "indefinite hiatus" Silverchair have gone into

...waiting for the agro's
