Anyone heard about Fat Mike of NOFX's set as Cokie The Clown.

I saw the youtube vid of it but it's been taken down.

http://www.punknews.org/article/37612

It's pretty weird stuff, serves people in the front row a drink. Goes on to describe him witnessing a rape when he was young. Also tells a story about living with someone who committed suicide and him and the rest of his roommates stealing his stuff. Tells stories about weird sex practices involving drinking piss and milking a woman. Then he tells stories about his parents dieing. Even plays a bad song about him euthanising his mother.

At the end he plays a video tape of him pissing into a bottle and serving it to the front row!

I'm pretty sure he was using a wizzenator though.

Great song. Great lyrics.

Pay the Cramps as Punk/Surf/Rockabilly/Sleaze/Whatever. They rule.

Anyone heard the leak of Against Me!'s new album?

It continues along the lines of New Wave without sounding anything like that album. Still people are going to be calling them sellouts for the umpteemth time. I think they were being called sellouts when they signed to No Idea and released Reinvinting Axl Rose, then when they signed to Fat, and then when they signed to whoever they are with now and released a semi-commercially successful album.

New Wave IMO was underrated, but I think pople who hated that should like White Crosses more. People who only like their first album still won't like it. The first listen I thought it was rubbish but it really grew on me.

Agree on the Powdermonkeys. Most excellent.

At their peak, were one of the best in the world. Tim's lyrics were brilliant, they as much a 70s hard rock band as a punk band (loved their cover of I Thank You by Sam and Dave via ZZ Top). Tim's death not only spelled the end of a great band but probably the end of a fantastic underground scene (Seminal Rats, Sunset Strip, Freeeloaders, Splatterheads etc).

Alright never mind what is punk for a moment.

I've kinda neglected Lagwagon for a while but I listened to their live album and I like their stuff. Violins is an awesome song.

They're are baically Blink 182 without all the bullshit and 100x times better than their best stuff.

Sorta punk related,

anyone going to the revival tour.

Basically a bunch of punk/singer songwriter/country/folk sounding artists (headlined by Frank Turner and ex Hot Water Music - Chuck Ragan). I like this offshoot of the genre (which deviates a lot from punk rock). Probably can be best described as "campfire punk rock".

Vince Noirs Punk band on The Mighty Boosh goes alright :D

I did a shit on your mum,
I did a shit on your mum,
I did a shit on your mum,
and she rather liked it.

I did a shit on your dad,
I did a shit on your dad,
I did a shit on your dad,
and he rather liked it.

I did a shit on your shit,
I did a shit on your shit,
I did a shit on your shit,
Irony completed.

anyone catch the Vibtrators on their recent tour? if no, why the hell not! was great to see one of the original punk bands (think they formed in 1976) rip it up at the Arthouse.

Wasn't your first listen was it?

No it wasn't I've heard it before (I.e. downloaded it) but on the first listen it pretty much had me, but I can see it needs to grow on some people, especially the later tracks.

not a fan of epitaph or whoever it is cashing in on the shape of punk to come...

anyway, a few of punk bands i used to love long ago (and still do deep down):

Propagandhi - Natural Disasters off todays empires, tomorrows ashes. great album. saw them earlier this year...or last year maybe, either way they kicked arse. true pros.

Descendents - im the one off everything sucks. pretty much the only pop punk band i like at all:

Q and Not U - Hooray for Humans off 'No Kill No Beep Beep' album. one of my fav albums of all time, dance punk at it's finest. their other two albums are awesome too. there's better songs on the album, but this is the one i could find a vid for:

strike anywhere around the time of their 'change is sound' album were the shit also.

Ah fair enough.

It is a sensational album, and is possibly one of the greatest punk albums of the past 15 years.

Although I'm probably not an expert in the field..

not a fan of epitaph or whoever it is cashing in on the shape of punk to come...

Whilst I agree that Epitaph has gone downhill since probably 2000, and that the new bands they are signing with this new hardcore sound are very bleh, Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come" is a very good album.

There are still a few good artists on Epitaph, mainly old bands from the labels glory era in the 90s (i.e. label founder's band Bad Religion).

PS: I'm sure you realise this but Everything Sucks was on Epitaph ;)
