Had to laugh at “the lure of Champions League football” being a factor in his decision.

This is Klopp’s first full season with the club that he hasn’t qualified. During that period we’ve made the final 3 times, won it once, and made the quarter finals on another occasion.

During the same period United have failed to qualify for the Champions League on 4 occasions, and of the seasons they actually did qualify they were knocked out in the group stages twice. They’ve been a non event in this competition for a decade.

Just say it’s the money mate, it’s not a big deal.

Bullet dodged tbh, he should've never been a target with the price being touted

Disagree, similar signing to Chamberlain who cost us what, £35m 5 years ago?

Not an A grader but a proven and very useful player. Most importantly, home grown, which we desperately need to replenish in our squad.

We overpaid for Ox, too, and Ox was meant to be a squad player, we need starting players in a crap midfield, Mount is not that player. 300k per week and 60 mil is just the icing on a shit cake, thank god for Man Utd giving us a helping hand and taking the bullet

If we got that much cash to splash on Mason bloody Mount then we should've just paid up for Bellingham

Let Mount go to Manchester United. They over performed this year. Their goal difference was a pissy +15, grinded out some tight results. They are my tip to be the team that drops out of the top 4 next season.

On MacAlister, it seems like the price has gone from 70 mill, to 55 mill. So an even better result for us.

If the reports of us being interested in Pavard are true, I wonder if that means we want him to play RB and Trent moves to midfield or we want another CB and he can fill in at RB when needed.

Joyce also mentioned Thuram Kone and Lavia as potential targets. Would be surprised if we get 3 new mids but if we do then Jurgen isn't ******* around

3 this summer then one more next summer with Thiago leaving.

Can we get like Mac Allister, Thuram and Kone now and then Bellingham doesnt go to Madrid and doesnt sign a new contract and then we just sign him on a free next summer to replace the outgoing Thiago.

kthxbai.

Also I hope Mac Allister is good. Hopefully not just another Diouf where you have a good world cup and then turns out you're actually s**t.

Mac Allister also has good PL form behind him, so it's not like he's new to the league

Yeah true, but im struggling a bit with this one. He seems like a good footballer but not a world class one. When you play for Liverpool, you kinda have to be world class because we want to be at the top of the game, win leagues and European Cups. I know not every player can be a world class player, you have to have squad players but that more what Mac Allister feels like, a squad player.

Whereas your Bellinghams of the world are world class and can turn a game. (Yes I'm still very bitter about the **** tease for a year and then no getting him haha)

I'm also unsure of where he will play. I think we're kind of looking at him to do the job of a Firmino but without the goals. Be that forward player inbetween the lines to try to create and whilst he does look to have an eye for a pass, his stats really dont back it up as I think he only had two assists for Brighton last season.

Those saying he is a Gini replacement I feel are off the mark. He doesnt have the pace nor the athleticism that Wijnaldum possessed to really be that water carrier in midfield. He feels closest to a Thiago but doesnt possess the same ability to control a game the way Thiago does so he's a bit of an odd man out.

Usually when we bring in a player, I can see exactly where he will fit in but with Mac, I cant see exactly where we intend to play him. He cant play the 6 so Fabinho plays, so is he the 8? If Thiago is fit, I'd much prefer Thiago in there controlling the game. So then is he the 10, he'd probably be ahead of a Carvalho and Elliott for that role, but we often see more industrious mids in that 3rd midfielder role and then Bobby/Gakpo plugs the gap of a 10.

Does this mean a change in the way we play from Klopp? Gakpo IMO is starting to come into that Bobby role but we all know nobody will ever get near the quality that Bobby provided in the False 9. So perhaps Klopp is abandoning that idea and moving for a more traditional 10? Im not sure.

I just really struggle to see where he fits and I also struggle to see where he really improves us.

I think our horrendous lack of midfielders in the last year or so has led us to think, wow we're buying a midfielder, we are going to improve and while that's probably true (availability is a skill on its own compared to sick notes Ox, Keita and sometimes Thiago) maybe we overlook that numbers in an area doesnt necessarily mean quality.

Or maybe he's gonna be amazing and I'm still bitter about JB haha.

Having said that, I can see exactly where and how JB would play and improve us in midfield, but with Mac, I cant.

Also sidenote cos with the season over we have to talk about something, how would you guys rate the CB's from recent times for us. Im thinking from this century onwards. In what order would you guys rate the following?

Henchoz
Hyypia
Carragher
Agger
Skrtel
Sakho
Lovren
Gomez
Matip
Konate
Van Dijk
