This is not skirting the rules. It's against the rules. It's cheating. To do this gives the contestants an unfair advantage over the others.
Yes it's cheating but I could see all of their builders doing some free hours here and there. And the skirting of various rules.

Or maybe they were working at ungodly hours and you would charge 150 an hour but do it for 55 an hour.

I doubt the show half way through all of a sudden looks at the trade bill and goes... oh maybe this is suss.

I feel like this is a discussion going nowhere. People can think whatever they like. Have a nice weekend, and we'll see how it all goes at 7OBLOCK Sunday night.
It's still quite amusing given Keith said he "knew about it weeks ago" but said nothing is ridiculous.

The show just needs drama and this is the latest.

I think there have been lots of hints dropped, and Keith has been questioning things a lot over the last few weeks. Maybe they have just taken Omar & Oz at their word and let it drop. But you're right, it's good reality TV drama, so we can't forget that.

Keith and Dan

Still up to their neck in garbage

They would have been sacked as Foremen seasons ago were it RL

Rachel & Ryan were harshly done by. It looked like a very functional kitchen to me, with probably the best pantry storage and overall layout out of all 5 houses. There were a few design choices like those lights I didn't like, but you can change that.

Sarah Jane & Tom's kitchen was beautiful, but I thought the food storage in the butler's pantry was small for such a large house.

The fridge in S&A's H3 was quite small compared to the rest of the houses. The black benchtops, I don't like.

O&O in H5 I didn't like that much. It looked like something you'd see in the city, not the country. Too dark and masculine.

H4 did a good job, but just not as good as H1.

Overall, I'd pick H1 as the winner.

With H5 you come straight into the kitchen and your met with the island bench rather than it flowing to the living and dinning. Just seemed a little off to do that.

H1 clear winners, h2 harshly judged, was an excellent kitchen with good storage.

With H5, there must be some shonkyness going ok with trade and labour. Only spending $30k with all that plaster and the timber on the ceiling.

Imagine having $250k of kitchen stuff and not winning. You wouldn’t think that’s possible.

I didn’t think H2 was judged too harshly - it wasn’t functional, and those lights are the worst thing I’ve seen on the show this year. I feel bad for Rachel though, cos I thought they were judged harshly last week, and having experienced all the mental illness it kind of pains me to watch someone spiral like she did this week, cos I totally get it.

Good of Ankur to leave his polo game for judging. I liked their kitchen though, and they didn’t deserve to be losing so many points for styling. You’re likely going to pay someone to help with that pre-auction, so it barely matters anyway.

Has anyone ever seen a house with a butlers pantry? Year after year they seem an extraordinarily expensive waste of space.

Did I miss it, or did the preview not tell us what’s happening with tomorrows ep? I almost expected they’d show tomorrows episode straight after tonight’s.

A lot of modern, bigger display homes have them.

Whats with House 2 been judged so harshly all season, why do the judges always have someone they hate and mark down from said hate week after week. The hate seems totally unjustified
I don’t think it’s hate it just not simply meeting the brief for the house and I agree that they are playing it too safe and contemporary which is coming across as very bland

I do think the judges get a set against contestants sometimes, so even when they do a good job, they're still over-picky. Not just this year but in years past too. Last year they developed a set against Mitch & Mark and constantly criticized their rooms, and guess what, they won the block. This show seriously needs new judges.

One thing I’ve really started to notice with the “challenge house” is what a good job The Block/Channel 9 are doing, in a small place like the Macedon Ranges, to promote the area, in particular small businesses down there. It’d be better if Macca’s & Aldi would piss off and let them promote local foodaries- but still, this is absolutely promoting a weekend trip away if you’re located in Melbourne.
