A third party widget written in 2017 started bashing the crap out of the database.

We quadrupled the database server size. And it still died.

Finally we found the culprit and switched it off.

End of story.

Let us never mention this again.

May I ask which widget?

Naturally. 🦅=👎
"Most Liked Posts"

To put it into vague numbers, we had a server at size 9600, where we usually have one of 400. When busy, the site usually uses 260 or so out of that 400, with room for a bump. It was using up to 8,600 with that widget enabled.

That answers a question I was going to ask - where did the 'most liked posts today' and 'most liked threads today' panels go (from the front page). Used to check it almost every visit and it led me to some great threads. Obviously with the problems it caused it won't be back.
