Neale is a victim of consistently high standards which is why the low IQ AA selectors got the team so wrong.

Having go back 24 years to find a clear wrong decision shows how good it is.

If it wasn't for Cripps getting it last year via legal loopholes Neale wouldn't have won this year's. It happens every year where a player who did well but didn't win the previous year gets a charity boost. I'd have rather he'd won last year's.Mate did you not watch last year when Cripps won. If he wasn’t embarrassed nobody ever will be.
Lachie lost last year because of tribunal incompetence.
In that game, his contested game was elite. If umpires are close to the contest and see him completely dominating, they're going to notice him far more than a chip-scab getting 20x 1-2 handballs the entire game.He did poll 3 votes in a game where he had 20 possessions, 13 of them handballs. I gave up trying to understand how they came up with the votes years ago
Yep..in what world do you not get 3 for 42 disposals ffsGulden should have had 3 in the last game.
Him and Trac clearly the two best players that day and they polled 1 vote between them

I would too but he deserves to be a dual Brownlow medalist and now he is.If it wasn't for Cripps getting it last year via legal loopholes Neale wouldn't have won this year's. Umpires can't umpire properly but they are expected to award the most prestigious medal in the game?
COOL.
Says it allDid some research. Woewodin in 2000, Mitchell in 2012, Priddis in 2014 and now Neale in 2023 are the Brownlow Medallists who haven't made AA. AA starting in 1991.
Go at least a decade before Tom...Kind of felt that the year Tom Mitchell won. If you didn't know it already it became a midfielders stat collector awards. Most of the play is in the middle generally so that's what umps mostly see.
Very very good point mate.
Sometimes you miss one because of bullshit and you get rewarded the next year. Ie swan in 2011 or Fyfe in 2015.
I'd be ok with either one of them getting the 3 votes. But combining for 1...Yep..in what world do you not get 3 for 42 disposals ffs
Happened to Diesel too..same 40
Plus numbers ..cost him
A medal
Don't get injured then.Lachie Neale won because Nick got injured
Bradbury Brownlow if I've ever seen one.
Kudos to Neale for being straight to the point 'it doesn't sit well with me at all to be honest.'
Only two sides win flags at a lesser rate than Collingwood and one is St Kilda
