As expected, there is also an interview in the Herald Sun today with Mike Sheahen.

NATHAN Buckley says his primary function as the new Collingwood coach is to build on the success and stability achieved during the Malthouse era. "I've been a part of this club for a fair while and it's a massive part of my life," he told the Herald Sun in his first sit-down chat since replacing Michael Malthouse as coach under the club's contentious succession plan.
"It's an honour and I understand and appreciate the great responsibility that comes with it. I feel a duty to the club and the people within it to make sure I do my very best to continue what's been put in place in recent times and also way back when."

:)

Huge respect for the guy.

Hope he does well with his coaching.

Also hope that the media sharks don't have him in their sights at the first sign of a glitch because he is Buckley and because he is Collingwood

Bucks has been class through the last 2 years and still shows it. He is a long way removed from the cocky young Bucks the media reported in 1994.

He'll be OK with the media. The media just didn't like MM, especially with the contempt he showed them most of the time. (Contempt deservedly so on some occasions IMO)

I rate Eade a match day genius, who'll give Bucks a big hand.

This club is in good hands with Bucks. I think we made the right decision two years ago.

I enjoyed the insight into the director of coaching role. A role as a development coach for the coaches as it has become too big a job for the head coach with all the other responsibilities of the head coach position. It will also involve developing tactical strategies as another resource for the head coach. I think it can only help.

Anyone else notice how many articles that the HUN put out that are just quoting other sources? As in they don't make interviews or get direct quotes, they just use all the quotes from someone else's article/video/radio segment. Pretty slack journalism.

they will, cos they see it as their job, and will proudly boast if they do manage to rattle his cage.

likewise you wont hear a word if they fail. as if it never happened.

footy rumour media - shit to the end.

What?

I'm sorry, I'm usually as good of a Hsun basher as anyone, but that was clearly a seperate interview given today by Bucks in the paper;

We met at Buckley's Toorak home the day before the family left for a holiday in Bali. He was at peace with the world, but for the family dog, Skip, who wouldn't leave us alone. He was relaxed and talkative and, like so many young parents, so impressively attentive to and accommodating of his two young boys.

Bucks wonder pander to the media baits like malthouse did.

And i think he will be a lot more measured in post match conferences.

He'll be fine!

Sorry, it wasn't so much to do with that article, just a general statement with what I've noticed recently. Just about every article this week on trades they've been taking quotes from people on Tradeweek radio and rewriting articles around them making them sound like their own, and their article on Marty Clarke a few days ago was basically just lifted off the Pies site.

No problem, as I said, I usually bag that rag myself.

I know what you mean about the trade week stuff, they have been quoting off Twitter, Facebook and even Bigfooty once or twice, which is just plain lazy.

I was almost shocked to hear Bucks invited them into his home.:p
