Collingwood
It was asked to Bucks in the presser.

Has the bye come at a good time or a bad time for us?

We have just notched up our 4th win in a row and fair to say the most impressive of the 4 and seem to be in great form, now we get a week off, will that halt our momentum? I hope not but i think it's interesting.

The positive is we get to freshen up and set ourselves up for a big 2nd half of the year. We dont want a repeat of 2014-15 where we just fell away. Gives the likes of Wells, Stephenson, Dunn a rest and also gives us another week to get the likes of Elliott and Moore right as well.

Thoughts?

Can be Either. Might be good for a Rest but it does Hurt the Momentum we have Built Up.

We have come back from Bye poor Recently

We are a Tom Lynch away from being a legit Premiership contender.
If Darcy Moore wants to walk away from that, the kid is being advised badly (IMO)...he should settle for another two years, build up some core strength and move on from the puny, injury-prone teenage body. Quit worrying about the weird “I wanna look like Dad” hairstyles and focus setting yourself on delivering on the (unfulfilled) potential.

Given who we play after the bye I think it's actually coming at a good time. We will come out fresh and confident and we will get the job done against the Blues. But importantly we can get some percentage hopefully over the next 3 rounds. Then West Coast at the G is huge. We would be favorites and if we win that we'd be firmly in the top 4 by then. With our draw and our form, I think another 7 wins from here is very realistic and that will put us top 4. Seems unreal...

I've seen us go 9-2 into the bye then 2-9.

Pivotal how we carry ourselves through this break, for some it's a break that's needed, for others it serves very detrimental in the second half of the season.

Hope Bucks organises a game against another Bye side. Sportsbet can back it.

Thank Christ, a resounding YES from me. The apprehension and anticipation for today's game was too much. A week off means not worrying about the Pies winning, and I can pay attention to doing some work for a change. I then can relax and enjoy some classic Carlton v Collingwood games for the next fortnight. Might start with round 3 2000. Who is with me?

We need to be switched on quickly, to stop a repeat of other years.
Hopefully this team is different and the bye will not hurt us.

This kinda talk scares me.

Every time we start talking about how much we'll beat Carlton by they find a way to do a hatchet job on us.

A few weeks ago I thought we were limping to the bye. Wrong again! Yesterday the Pies looked like they could play another quarter, they were having so much fun.

Bye is good. Embrace the bye. Enter the break with a fantastic win, full of confidence, loving playing good footy with your mates, a beamimg coach. Recharge and refresh. Go somewhere warm and stay out of nightclubs.:)

I hate the bye, no footy for 2 weeks. I do however think the players will benefit from it. Hopefully our form doesn't evaporate.

I'm getting nervous. Last time we were in this sorta form was in 2015 and we choked it after the Bye. We're a different team now and at this point I can't see us dropping from the 8.

Awesome draw for us this week.

Only two teams above us can win as the top four sides play each other. Only one team has any mathematical chance of passing us on the ladder....Port would need almost a 100 point win over the Dogs....highly unlikely.....

And just outside the eight Hawthorn play the Crows so only one of them can advance whilst the loser can pretty well say goodbye to 2018 and reduce the competition to ten teams who can make finals.

Couldnt have a better bye draw if we asked for it!!!

I think we’ll come out of the bye with no loss and no win.

Should be a settled round for us.

Then we chop up Carlton, eat them up, crap them out.

It’s over for the bolty blues

I think it has come at a great time.
The media have jumped on us as potential Premiership material having the week off will get us out of the news again and let another team take the spotlight. The longer we can fly under the radar the better IMO. Boys will freshen up mentally and physically and get themselves ready for a big final 10 weeks. This is a better team than 2014 when we fell off a cliff in the second half. We have experience on all lines, good players to come back into the side, a good amount of depth, and a reasonably good draw.
I'm not convinced on the contender talk just yet, but as the last 2 years have shown if you make the 8 anything can happen.
Living in Canada i'm going to enjoy the weekend off as well. No getting up in middle of night to watch a game.

Good time give the guys some time to refresh and refocus, set some new goals and hit the 2nd half of the season like it's starting again.

For those who are worried we won't beat Carlton, if we don't beat Carlton, Gold Coast & Essendon after the bye then we don't deserve to be where we are.

Bring on the last 10 games and finally some September footy!!!!

My Tip we go 7-3 :)

I’m thinking along similar lines to Vicky Park; against Brisbane it looked like the bye couldn’t come quickly enough... I think the most important thing is to freshen up, get a few players back closer to being available, maybe get a few contracts signed, and reload.
