Or it is the police:

His friends instead believe this recent activity, nearly a week since his last confirmed sighting, is missing persons investigators using his profile to scour the social-networking site for evidence.

Ian Lyle, a friend of 40 years, says as much as he hopes Mr Rockefeller is alive and logging on to Facebook somewhere, he suspects police are behind the recent jump in activity.

"I don't think Herman's on the other end," he said.

DETECTIVES are contacting the Facebook friends of Herman Rockefeller in their search for clues on the millionaire's disappearance.

An officer from the police missing persons unit contacted all 20 yesterday and asked: "Can you all please reply back to me on how you know Herman and when you last had contact with him."

Hmmm, I just had a guy at work tell us that he was riding his motorbike around Ballan on Sunday, and nearly crashed into the missing car!

He came around a bend, and found the Prius parked with two wheels on the road, two wheels off. Apparently there were two guys, one of them opened the drivers side door out onto the road, my work colleague had to slam on his brakes and swerve to miss the door.

He has been speaking to police and identified Herman Rockefeller as the man who opened the door.

The Police just called him and asked a few more questions, apparently they still don't really know what happened.

If you were leaving your car in a longterm parking area at an airport for a few days would you be leaving a flashy expensive car or a cheap crappy Prius ?

Crappy yes, cheap no.

**** I hate those things, we have to drive them when interstate, friggin Sydney hills.

Not sure if I quite got the details right but some interesting developments on Channel 9 news tonight.

They said that police have been doorknocking and questioning his neighbours in Malvern, where they have asked if they saw the Prius on late on the Thursday night (the night he arrived in Melbourne and left the airport - but didn't take any of the toll roads) or late on Saturday night. Very interesting questions to be asking, under the circumstances.

You got the Nine details correct.Perhaps the person who raised the John Darwin theory might be close to the mark.

There's a link to them in this case? WOW!

No, apparently no link, according to the wife. Although she might just be saying that in case he was taken for that reason.

In any case, it's not looking too good for him.

THE search for missing businessman Herman Rockefeller yesterday took an ominous turn with detectives receiving information indicating he may be the victim of foul play. Police yesterday raided a townhouse in Hadfield. Neighbours said a couple were driven away by detectives. No charges have been laid.

Forensic experts and detectives last night were searching the home for evidence to establish if Mr Rockefeller had been to the South Street address in Melbourne's north. They were also asking neighbours if they had seen the missing man or his vehicle on the night he disappeared. Forensic police were seen entering the townhouse last night. Police guarding the scene refused to comment.

Incidentally, Hadfield is in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, just off the ring road (so no Citylink needed from the airport.)

Anyone get the feeling this guy has been involved in a dodgy deal which he didn't want anyone to know about and it has gone wrong?
