With all the huha over whether Chris Judd will leave West Coast to come back home, I read in the Inside Footy this week that Essendon will make a huge push to get him to Windy Hill next season.
Personally I reckon he'll stay at in Perth, but in a hypothetical situation, Essendon would have to give up a lot to get him. So which players are in trouble in the trade talks this season?
Currently, Essendon has only 3 senior players from Perth - Paul Barnard, Cory McGrath & Dean Rioli, so only Rioli would be a real trade option there. So in my opinion a complicated 3 way deal with another club would be up.
Scott Lucas seems a sacrificial lamb at the moment, and clubs like Geelong, the Bulldogs and Melbourne would all try to get him this year I reckon. So would a trade for the #1 pick from which ever of these clubs finishes last for Scott Lucas, then on-trading the #1 pick to West Coast for Judd be on the cards? I'd hate to see Scotty playing for anyone else but Essendon, but we really don't have a choice these days.
Other than that, I really can't see Essendon competing with the cashed up clubs like Geelong, Melbourne, Hawthorn or the Dogs will be come the end of the season. (cashed up in the way that they will off-load alot of their older players, freeing up salary cap room)
