According to Caro on 5AA:
Laidley was in Bali and had his phone switched off. Mick was calling him, trying to get in contact with Laidley. Obviously Laidley wasn't returning his phone calls. So, coincidentally, Mick's son-in-law works for St Kilda. Mick mentioned to his son-in-law that he couldn't get in touch with Laidley. Mick's son-in-law emailed Laidley and told him he might want to give Mick a call.
St Kilda only offered Laidley 1 year and Caro is adamant there are definite issues at St Kilda in general because of Scott Watters. The opportunity to work with Mick, who Laidley respects a lot and coach the Carlton midfield looks a lot more attractive than staying at the Saints under a coach who no one thinks will be there for long.
That's the part that confounds me. I get the move of Green to the forwardline coach, it is a much better fit IMO, but I don't understand Barker as forward, defence or orange-peeler coach.
Why? Do people ITT saying they dont understand/want Barker as defensive coach actually know anything about his coaching abilities? I certainly dont...but i do trust MM in making his appointments...he's shown in the past if someone isnt up to scratch he wont hesitate to give them the flick and i dont think he's about to change...
but if someone here could actually explain in detail why Barker shouldnt be defensive coach please explain it to me

Wrapt with Laidley's appointment.![]()
"Goddess"

Game's gone past him apparently. Wonder if he noticed.Talk about pathetic, there is an entire thread on the Collingwood board devoted to Laidley's appointment at Carlton. WTF?
if he was so good he'd still hold the position.Theres a reason barker is no longer the forward coach............if he was so good he'd still hold the position.
We sat on our hands when everyone else was shuffling for new and better assistants, aint much out there now....that and club are probably tired of paying out contracts.
Really?
Considering that Mick is a defence first coach, maybe it's a promotion?
Good assitants rotate their roles for more experience anyway. It's ridiculous to assume that Mick would demote an assitant who wasn't any good rather than get rid of them.

No wonder Laidley left Seaford, they're an absolute mess down there...
According to Finey, Laidley walking out because of Watters was part of the final straw.

How long til they want to merge our boards...The obsession continues...

Hello collingwood supporters reading this thread..... Cold in our shadow is it?
Bucks seems to be doing a good job... Winning finals and what not...
