He has only scored about 50-60 runs off Swann, Broad and Anderson though. But yes he has finally made a ton.Gotta pay Watson his dues there. Imagine the carnage if he hadn't of...

Watson's ton can be seen as a positive or negative and only time will tell. It's disappointing it's taken him so long to crack another and we especially could have done with one earlier this series. That being said, if he now uses this to kick on and put in 2-3 solid seasons with the bat at No.3, then that would be a huge positive for the team. On the flip side, if he uses it to bankroll another 2-3 seasons of high promise and low output, then it could be the worst thing that could have happened.
Agree. Looks lost against the short ball at times. Very susceptible to skying to deep square leg/fine legVery, very dull 'aint it. I reckon Trott just might have an interesting time in Australia with the short ball.
haha watson, your timing is impeccable. Match/Series on the line . . . nothing. Career on the line . . . highest score in test cricket. Good on him I guess but I agree with MB, got to make centuries when the heat is on in order to win us matches and series.
Watson should be told, you wanna stay in the test side, give up T20 for a few years. For mine, the leg down the pitch is a result of T20 where you can just plant and swing. Doesn;t work in test cricket and he's been exposed as a result.
Whilst this innings was impressive, it effectively meant nothing in terms of the series.
Nah, it's not T20 that's the issue. It's 10,000 hours facing a bowling machine.
If you break down Watson's individual shot techniques it is absolutely elite, perhaps even the best in the world. Incredibly consistent, you could almost say "robotic".
His problem is in shot selection, and coping with movement. Bowlers know that they can give him slightly different deliveries and he will play the same shot - one moves, one doesn't. One goes to the boundary, the other hits the pad...
Hope so... Off to a pretty good start! Most nice.
Hey, I reckon Lehmann might be just the coach to extract the maximum out of Finch.
Clinical batting in the 1-dayer
Bailey is smashing them everywhere
Yeah I did, he did hit a fair few balls straight aswell. But you are right, nothing through the covers or point regionsDid you see Bailey's scoring 'wheel' when he was on about 60 odd? Every scoring shot was more or less straight through the onside. wasn't a run on the off side.
