Went to bed (very tired) just after the two lads got their 100s last night. Can't tell you how stoked I am for Rogers.

Me too. A great score to wake up to. I imagine a even better score to go to bed on.

I made it through about an hour post lunch break. Great score to wake up to. Really good to read the reports this morning about how they batted together.... Smith's second 50 in 50 balls beating Rogers to his hundred, then when Rogers got going, Smith pulled back. Great mature test match batting.

Good to see the removal of Watson has provided an instant improvement in our batting :D

What a toss to win! Apparently Clarke calls tails every time (tails never fails) but decided to go heads this time and as luck would have it he won the toss. So happy for Rogers to notch up such a great innings in his final series. Really is a man playing as if every game is his last match. Will be a hole at the top of the order.

The challenge from here will be to make enough runs to win the match but still avoid the draw. Going to have to bowl well.

Our batting is still so thin. Strange thing to say given the score line but without smith and rogers in the last 12 months we would be rubbish

Nevill looks classy to me.

I've seen enough to suggest he should bat higher than marsh. Looks really solid. Busy at the crease and looks to score

He just looks like he has a tight technique too.

Re Marsh: I just have this feeling about him he could really blossom if left in the test side. Just think he's got something special there.

Have been looking forward to seeing nevill get a go at test level. I like that he uses the crease against the spinner. A nice change from all the front foot plonkers we have.

He's very impressive. Like his technique. Gets some serious bat speed going too.

But what about Steve Smith? Amazing run of form.

Terrible shot. No need for it. Unlucky to be given out as it looked outside the line.

I find the notion of 'unlucky' utterly incongruous with third umpire referral. He got the decision wrong there, plain and simple.

bradman like. People carry on about his technique but his performances are making a mockery of their expertise. Very enjoyable batsman to watch too.

Apparently Bradman had an unusual technique too. Not the paragon of orthodoxy one might assume he was.

Yeah I was confused. even more confused when the referral was umpires call. The technology is not capable of judging 1 mm. The graphic is terribly misleading in the way it elicits confidence beyond which is possible based on the tech.

Even when you see just the replay its clearly hitting him outside the line. Dunno, just listening to the audio and the vision of the third umpires decision, he was only concerned about an edge and hitting the stumps.

i don't think the third umpire has discretion over impact and hitting wicket. It is all on the tech.

I'm not sure. He did use ball tracker and hot spot.

Insane if he can review aspects of the decision, but not in its entirity.

Hitting in-line/outside the line are just as an important as edges etc.
