As an Eagles supporter, I just thought I'd like to tell you lot that I reckon your side of the last 3 years has been horribly underrated and too quickly forgotten as one of the great modern era sides.

I can't say I was too sad to see you drop out of the race this weekend (because I felt that perhaps fate would step in and see you do very well this finals series), but on reflection it does seem a shame that a side that dominated so much very recently missed out on the accolades that it deserved.

When a team like Geelong pops up and kills all in their way, people start to make big statements about recent history; saying we haven't seen dominance like this since... bla bla, but what short memories we have in footy. I remember Dermy calling you guys "scary good" only 14 months ago.

Going into the prelim last year I asked my brother who he thought the best team of the last two years (05 and 06) had been - with Sydney winning the flag, but the crows and the eagles taking out the minor prems. We decided all three were pretty much on par with eachother at that stage, but if you were to ask the average punter the same question now, some folks would laugh at you. weird eh.

I"m you'll agree, it just seems a bit carzy.

Interesting.

Our window of opportunity is now over.

We need the "Blight cleanup of 1996".

I think its time to really move some players on from this club.

Funny thing is the Eagles should enter 08 as hot favourites as long as it keeps it list intact.

A lot of clubs are going to press hard in 08, Port, Hawks, Pies.

As for this year I am happy if the CATS when it, its been too long and too painful for their supporters.

I think the Crows achieved far more than anyone expected in 05 and 06. With an average-good list, everyone expected a bottom 8 finish in 05, and only because of the surprise performance in that year, did expectations change for 06. This year we were all so hopeful of bigger things but were struck down by injuries, bad luck and inconsitant skills brought about by both of those things.

Were we a force in 05/06? No, because we didn't win when it counted. But we showed very positive signs. I don't think our window of opportunity has closed at all - in fact I don't believe there is such a thing - Craig proved that by getting us to top 2 in two years when we weren't expected to with a squad that had major short-comings. A good pre-season, with intelligent drafts/trades and a bit of luck on the injury front, will see us back up in the front runners next year.

We will still be challenging for the finals next year & most probably a top four finish.

This year was always going to be a struggle due to what ever reasons we can lay the blame to & to finish in eight spot is probably our just reward.

I'm a great believer in the "footy gods" syndrome & once they turn on you it usually lasts for a year.

Yeah, but do you know any Geelong fans? It's been painful for the, but hilarious for people close to them. I have never met a Geelong fan that isn't bitter and twisted. I don't think they'll know how to deal with the success that I have no doubt they'll get in three weeks time.

I think when it comes down to a choice of bitter and twisted Cats fans vs twisted rock ape power supporter, a majority of people would rather the Cats win it. Ill be barracking hard for the Cats (even tho I cant stand them personally) or whoever plays Port.
