Can we poach Brian Cook from Geelong...has a great record both with the Cats and previously Wet Toast...both prospered under his oversight...
Would be my #1 choice.

If we managed to somehow convince Cook to come to be AFC CEO (would be my #1 choice) & replaced Chapman with someone like Wayne Jackson, AFC could be turned around very, very quickly off-field ... which would in turn improve on-field.

If only...

Now's the time to go after Cooky because if he was ever going to leave for interstate it would be right after the AFL job was given to someone else.
Worth getting in his ear as seems to like a challenge & Cats are travelling very smoothly now he has helped turn them around from being a basketcase with Costa.

I remember when we were at our lowest and the posters in our bigfooty forum seemed better able to run the club. In fact we hoped Primus would check-in on our board to get his team line-up (He may have kept his job).

The direction you guys are thinking (Cook) whether he is available or not is spot on. Getting people who can see beyond the confines of our town is one of the best things we did. A good amount of our board members live interstate (not just Kochie). Could have been the idea of KT or Demetriou or it just turned out that way. Regardless it has been a breathe of fresh air.

I think sometimes people who have been in positions for a long time such as Lee Whicker and other CEO's forget that they are valuable caretakers and while they may have contributed great service to the club/organization, it belongs to the fans and is public domain.

Of course you do. But I want to know how much he actually has to do with running these businesses that he has a stake in. Did he make the investments he did because he has a good sense for it, or was it coterie members/business people involved with the club throwing him a bone, or wanting to get him involved as a figurehead in their projects?

Just because the man has a decent business investment portfolio, it does not automatically make him suited to be a CEO or a Chairman.

Very true. Roo would need more years to develop most likely.

It's a shame there's so much potential out there and when Trigg stands down we'll just end up with Smart acting like head dictator CEO as a replacement.

It took St Kilda over 5 months to replace their CEO. With the Lions job open, the talk is taking existing CEO's (Swann, Trigg, Conlon [AFLQ]) only (or the GWS COO who was the AFLQ CEO prior).

I'm not sure how much potential is out there.
