Anyone else looking forward to this?

Nolan's follow-up to Begins seems to be picking up the pace in casting. Aaron Eckhart has just been cast as Harvey Dent, whilst Maggie Gyllenhaal is apparently taking over from Katie Holmes (yay), who dropped out to film a Queen Latifah film, in the Rachel Dawes role.

Two very solid additions in conjunction to the Ledger picking methinks.

Crispin Glover should have been the JOKER !
Hear hear. He has the psycho look down like no-one else in Hollywood. But Nolan's doing a young Batman, so I guess Glover would've been too old for the role.

I'm pumped for this movie.

Katie Holmes was terrible in Batman Begins.

This is great news.

Since Matt Damon declined the role early on, Eckhart's beaten out a fair field for the Dent role. Ed Norton and JPhoenix were two others mentioned, as were Jamie Foxx and Josh Lucas (the latter two would've been horrible though IMO).

Heath will kick ass as the joker... I gotta say, I have never looked forward to a movie more than this one.
Not knocking LEDGER , but just look at GLOVERS face !!
THATS how i see the JOKER !!
Like CLOONEY had THE perfect BATMAN jawline !!

they havent even started filming yet? WTF i thought it was coming out this year
It is. They've started prelimenary filming. (Or however you spell the damn word). Think, there weren't that many special effects in Batman Begins really. Compared to a lot of movies these days.

After being dissapointed many times in the 90s with those poor pathetic excuses we endured (thanks Joel Schumacher). I absolutely loved Batman Begins and Nolan got it absolutely right by going back to the roots of Batman. A good website to go to get updates on 'The Dark Knight' is Batman on Film......

I'm very much looking forward to this. I liked Maggie in Stranger Than Fiction and I hope she scores the role of Talia Al Ghul.

That looks awesome!! :thumbsu:

I'm really looking forward to this film. Batman Begins was one of those nice little surprises (compared to Superman Returns). I'm very happy Katie Holmes is not returning. Her crooked mouth is almost as annoying as Alicia Silverstone's.

I'm looking forward to seeing a real sadistic Joker. I loved Nicholson's Joker, but even though there was that sinister edge to it, it was a bit too giggly at times. The Joker doesn't always crack a smile.

And for those who blame Schumacher for ruining the franchise, blame WB. They fugged it up by tailoring it to be glorified toy commercials. And Burton's Returns was way too Burtonised to be canon Batman, even though it had its good points.

Keep 'em coming from Nolan, I say. And keep the villains sinister as hell.

Will be interesting to see Leger's take on the joker.

From what he said, he indicated that he would do it differently from Jack Nicholson.

Sorry to bomb here, but that's not Ledger. Its actually a photo that was released in late 2005 (well before Heath was cast for the role) as a makeup test. The actual actor is (iirc) some French dude who apparently is now dead. Having said that, I sure as Hell hope that that's the look they're pursuing. The link for the forum I came across it is below-look around page 10.

Don't know if you saw this, which was posted at Newsarama awhile back.

The fact that he (at the time of the article) had only been given "The Killing Joke" to read gives me a great deal of hope for the character. Not the best Joker story by any stretch, but an excellent jump-point for those who aren't all that familiar (like Heath Ledger).

A very good jumping on point! I hope they followed it up with "The Jokers 5 Way Revenge" and "The Laughing Fish."

fug!!!! Heath looks scary as hell!!!

The look of the joker was the only reservation I had (after that cowboy movie).... now I'm really excited to see the finish product =)

edit: oh....maybe I should have read the rest of the thread first :/

a pity...that guy would have probably made a great joker

Yeah, someone on another forum informed me that it is a picture of the actor from The Man Who Laughs, a 1928 French silent film. The Joker is actually based on the appearance of the main character in the film (and novel), who was surgically deformed as a child to have a smiling, clown-like face.

Who is Harvey Dent, and what is his role in Batman mythology?

Was his character in the original Burton film?

Harvey Dent DA is also known as Two Face. He has a very big role to play in the Batman/Gordon relationship.

There have been two versions of Harvey/Two Face. The first was played by Billy Dee Williams in the first Burton Bat flick. The second was played by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever (?)
