Thanks jonbe, that was an interesting article.

Part of me sometimes thinks, i wish they'd keep their secrets to themselves, but i guess the other clubs are astute enough to work those things out for themselves, dunno.

Certainly it's great to hear how they're always thinking about how to further improve and also how Leon is now a backman 'at heart'.

LOL at Maxy's dig at the mids and forwards!

Understand about secrets swoop but a great coach once said words to the effect of - "It doesn't matter if the opposition sit in on our team meetings so long as we are good enough" - and we are. :D

I liked this part of the article because it means the club is thinking forward and thinking of improving rather than doing the same things and letting other clubs catch up:

"When you're the premier, you know teams are going to look at the way you do things.

"But what we wanted to do was create more evenness and flexibility within the group.

"It's all about trying to change it around so that if we ever lost someone, they are easier to replace. Or, if a situation arises, we can cope.

"The system is not 100 per cent reliant on any one person to fill a specific role."

Also what he said about Simon Buckley at the end of the article was very interesting. Perhaps we'll see the next Toovey coming through? He certainly does have the skills, it's just about him getting his head right and using the right options when disposing of the ball.

Found this article earlier before I went out for the day also.

Agree with Ed D. The part about Simon Buckley was particularly interesting and worth noting. Big wrap from the captain!

SIMON BUCKLEY
AGE 24, 27 GAMES
The last 12 months we've been trying to drum into him that the only person that is going to prevent him being an All-Australian is himself.
He's got all the attributes and at his best what we've seen this year is that there are not many people around who can do what he can do.
It's just a matter of him having the confidence to believe in himself. Every single week that he's played we've seen a little bit more of that confidence grow and develop.
