How many seconds left in the game...?!?
WTF...I'll kick it backwards to hunt closer to the pies goal...
WTF...what have you done hunt...!?
See houli...what you can do Rancey boy can do better...

Hahaha that mark to Fasolo. The fix is in.
No worse than the high tackle call against Sinclair on Short in front of goal. Was a 100% fair tackle and resulted in a goal.

Bad calls tend to even themselves out most of the time. Although Fasolo's 'mark' should have been called for an arm chop free anyway...

11. COMMENCING PLAY AND CHOICE OF GOAL
11.2 COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY
11.2.2 Commencing Play
(d) The Timekeeper shall commence the clock used for timing the Match when the football touches the ground in the act of bouncing or leaves the Umpire’s hands in the act of throwing the football in the air, or when a Player, who has been awarded a Free Kick, brings the football into play, or when the Umpire calls ‘Play On’.
Never let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.

Complain about the umpires in Collingwood's direction all you like, but the free kick count was 26-17 so there may have been bad calls in both directions, but there were more bad calls against us, even neutral supporters suggest we were hard done by and that never happens.
Wait, so because the overall free kick count was in Collingwoods favour that automatically means that there were more bad calls against Richmond?

You know that not every call is a bad call right?

Wonder how I'd go if I went on a Pies thread about umpiring?

Probably about the same as I'm going to go here. It's incredibly hard to be objective about umpiring when your team is involved. This thread is proof of that.

Of course it doesn't, however 17 free kicks to a team in a match is definitely on the lower end of what is usually awarded in a match, so there isn't as much room for bad decisions. In fact the free kicks usually favour the team that is more aggressive at the ball, yet Richmond won the contested possession count, dominated in the clearances, yet Collingwood gets 50% more free kicks?

The 50-50 calls went Collingwood's way all night. Maybe there were a couple of bad calls against Collingwood, but there were far more bad calls against Richmond and the 50-50s were in Collingwood's favour also. It shouldn't have mattered, we should have won anyway despite this, but Collingwood never won this game, we lost it and the umpires helped get you over the line.

If you say so.

face the facts dudes...the first 10 rounds at least are made for tv games. Especially the big ticket friday night games...i mean last week the tankers couldnt hold the ball at any time in the game, it was play on every single time they got caught and it "popped out". When we got caught it was holding the ball 2 seconds after the tackle...this is the way they keep the punters interested on the box and the AFL gets a pat on the back for repaying some of the 2.5 billion in media rights..Here is the thing with this most stupidest of rules in the history of world sport. Dude takes possesion has a look, gets caught while having a look, ball spills, ump says play on, ball gets to a team mate and team gains advantage. So in effect the team that executed the4 tackle and should have been at the very least on the plus side of the advantage is disadvantaged. This is how the umps control the game according to the script. ;)

If you say so.
Just get off this board if that's the type of response you are going to give

The 26 free kicks to Collingwood was the 2nd highest of the round, only Essendon got more with 27. The difference of 9 was also the 2nd biggest of the round, GWS had more against Geelong. For a game that was so close there shouldn't have been that much of a discrepancy.
In EVERY SINGLE other game this round, the team that won the contested possessions also won the free kick count. For us to win the contested ball but Collingwood get 50% more free kicks is almost unheard of.

that whole last 5 minutes was riddled by mistakes of both varieties, the mistakes that were made by a team under pressure and the mistakes that were made to continue to put pressure on a team to continue to make mistakes. Whoever cannot see that is ab absolute f***ing muppet.

Absolutely none of that proves that Richmond got significantly more 'bad' calls against them though. This is really a pointless argument though, as our definitions of poor calls will significantly differ given our support of the opposing teams in question.

I was simply pointing out that it's illogical to assume that just because Richmond lost the free kick count that more bad calls were made against them.

Well I'm not going to spend 2-3 hours of my life re-watching the game and noting every bad decision each way just to win an argument with some flog Collingwood supporter. While I know that the numbers are not absolute 100% proof that Richmond got bad calls, it is to highlight that the numbers present a statistical anomaly. Now you can believe whatever you want about why that massive variation exists, but to just ignore them and say its not proof is just you being a typical arrogant Collingwood campaigner and putting your head in the sand.

Note that I have said on page one of this thread that the deliberate call was correct and that we should have won the game despite the Collingwood bias in the umpiring. You should probably also consider the neutral supporters who have posted saying that Richmond were screwed over by the umpires, I doubt there are any saying the reverse.

Ok. :drunk:

Going back to the deliberate call (which I have no problem with as it was deliberate), I'd like to talk about why it happened. I caught the segment on the couch where they looked at this passage of play. They highlighted the fact that our players didn't push back quick enough and we had 3 tigers to 4 pies when Vlastuin won the ball. I don't blame Vlastuin for his actions because we didn't have the extra man to work it out of the defensive fifty (we didn't even have equal numbers) so we couldn't mess around handballing it to one another and retain possession. I think he was left with a down the line option and it bounced out and was ruled deliberate.

I think players like Vlastuin and Rance were solid but that there are too many passengers not putting in the work to get back and support them. Our defence this year is not a patch on the defence of 2015.

Played in a practice match on Sunday, and everyone hung it on me for a 5 minutes (as you do), then once the novelty started wearing off and they started talking about the game, they all agreed we got killed by the umpires. That doesn't happen if it's anywhere near fair.

we lost the game because of stupidity, lack of leadership and poor coaching simple as that

You concede that the umpiring was bad and bad calls were made all night both ways. Given that, the fact that the free kick count went significantly against Richmond suggests that we got the worst run of bad calls. It doesn't prove it; but it makes it extremely likely. You can add to that that it is very unusual for the team that wins the contested possession count to lose the free kick count, especially by such a margin - again not proof but hard to explain any other way.

Can I also say that, yes it was "our fault" in that you can point to any number of errors that cost us the game. You always can in a game you lose by 1 point. That's what the coach and the team should be focussed on, because it's something they can do something about. But as supporters we don't have to be worried about that alone. We can face the reality that all three of the goals in that last horrible six minutes were assisted by umpiring decisions that were at least questionable. Only one had to go the other way and we would have won the match.

Incidentally, on the timing, they had an umpire on SEN (don't know who it was as I missed the intro) and he had an interesting call on the timing. He actually thought that they burned 10 seconds that they shouldn't have and we should have had 10 seconds more in the match. Remember where the ball was when the siren sounded?

Another thing we can talk about as fans that the coach and players shouldn't is luck. According to Carey, who for all that he's a flog knows about goal kicking, Ty's kick was perfect as the ball almost always fades to the left from that position. It didn't deviate for some reason and hit the post.

There's no rules regarding free-kick count whatsoever, especially one dependent on contested possessions. Complaining about the free-kick count is probably the most pointless thing to complain about. If you have to rely on umpires to win a game, you won't win many.

Try reading the rest of my comments where I have said that it wasn't the reason we lost and we should have kicked straight/made less mistakes.
I was just pointing out that it was something that went against us and that Collingwood supporters saying that they got bad decisions doesn't make it better as we got far more.
