So I’ve got a gear score of 498 can’t seem to get anything higher, doing the invaded missions and daily’s.. but not sure what else. Have done all the bounties till they reset but they feel a bit repetitive..

Can only do the same few missions over and over till they get boring. Only heroic mode for basin is batshit hard, everything else seems ok with a good team.

Playing around with the DZ a bit, but feel like I need something new to do.

It's a shame that the raid has been delayed as I've already noticed a lot of people dropping off. Don't get worried about being 498 as the gear score doesn't mean a lot, you're better off getting a good build. I've been flat out on 497 myself for a couple weeks because I can't find anything with the perfect rolls to upgrade anything. If gear score is all you are interested in then every field proficiency should drop 500'ish. Recalibrating gear in the 490s should also push it over 500. Regardless, post raid update your drops should be 500+.

Is it worth getting if you don't want to play online with people?

Probably not, at some point you're probably going to want those people.

Where are the raids!

I think in the next week or two? First was meant to be out last week but WT5 was already delayed due to Massive wanting to fix bugs first so I think their entire schedule is a little behind. Hopefully not long because I'm out of things to do :(

Yeah same boat, give me content or I'm wandering elsewhere.

Got to WT5 last night. Now let the game begin.

about time :p
We didn't do too badly the other night, hope you didn't mind the random join, just saw you and pants were on.

Where are the raids!

should be in a week or so i reckon.

I still haven't seen anywhere how the raid match making works. I'm hoping as a clan we can all jump on together and just use one of the clan channels to chat. we should have a pretty decent 8 once it launches.

Haha wasn't quite sure it was you but figured it was with Michaels in the name, otherwise completely random.

Haha no issue at all. Was just running the missions to get me up the world tiers quickly. Now I can finally focus on building some useable gear sets.

Not sure I'm going to stick with it, level 11 only focussing on main missions and already starting to hit a wall.

Not sure ive got it in me to churn through all the content to catch up.
The game opens up a lot more once you hit 30, then even more so as you progress through the world tiers. The world tiers aren't really a grind either, just do it with a mate and then get him to drop all his items he got to help raise your gear score to get through to the next tier.

As ive already got one game with shocking load times, how are PC players finding load times?

Sent back my PS4 copy to Amazon but wondering whether to get on PC considering playing catch up from the start with what I suspect is a smaller playerbase than consoles.

As you're on an SSD your load times will be quick. Takes longer for me to connect than it does to load. Things like fast travel are almost instant. Player base would be smaller but there is an in game global chat that's handy to find randoms (just have to mute all the Chinese) but once you find a clan with a Discord it's not a problem. My clan is full last I checked but largely inactive since everyone has run out of stuff to do as the raid kept getting delayed. Once that comes around I'm sure the clan leader will clean it out a bit and I could get you in. If you jumped on PC I could easily speed you through to WT5.

I think the raid is out tomorrow which is good. I better log in tonight before the clan purges inactives as I haven't in about a week.

No matchmaking for raids is a huge wtf decision...

Really none? I thought they said initially that all content will be available with matchmaking, even the raids in Division 1 did. I had 0% success in every random match made raid I ever did but that's not the point, they should at least give those a go who aren't in a clan or some sort of group.

None at all. They tell you to use other in game social channels to do it.

Not sure why with uplay but the initial update crawled for me on PC, hopefully start it tonight.

On the topic of raids, im assuming they must be a bit more complex than the Division 1 versions? I can only think they want to avoid people bailing 3/4 way through?

Were Division 1 raids structured similarly to Destiny? Eg checkpoints with bosses along the way?

None at all. They tell you to use other in game social channels to do it.

Not the most smooth PR response....

Explains it a bit better:

Raid Matchmaking

What the devs said about that request:

We decided to not include matchmaking as we don't think this will create a good gameplay experience for random groups. The Raid will test your ability to communicate well, have a good build setup and will require great teamwork to beat encounters.

In general, the players should not look at the raid as another Incursion. The Raid is not something you do randomly – this is something you plan, you organize and you prepare for (builds / roles etc). During the raid, you communicate and then you learn from that experience and do it differently the next time.

Invasion Reset

  • The Weekly Missions were changed that they are no longer random but on a more controlled schedule.
  • The Weekly Invasion will change again on Thursday, so get the Nemesis blueprint now.
  • Frequent Deltas since TU3
  • Since the release of Title Update 3 they had a more frequent amount of server crashes.
  • This is what they are investigating and try to fix it as soon as possible – especially with the raid coming

Read to me as pretty much emulating what raids are with Destiny.

Division 1 raids were so simplistic, especially compared to Destiny, but they were still hard with randoms. Take Falcon Lost for example which was the first raid and was nothing more than waves of enemies. Most random groups didn't have the dps or survivability to make it past half a dozen waves, but for the few that did it always fell apart (in my experience anyway) on the final part which was when you had to co-ordinate disabling defences so somebody could plant a bomb on the APC. There was about a 5 second window while never ending enemies spawned. Without planning and comms this was nigh on impossible. Imagine doing Vault of Glass or World Eater with randoms and little to no comms. I understand the justification of not including match making and it's a common decision to the rest of the online/MMO genre, but there is nothing to lose by including it.

Pretty much my thoughts too, even though i play more solo than not.

I guess the process was that if you include MM then you take away the incentive to get on LFG. You're more likely to get people in the same boat as yourself as a solo player than MM.

I did matchmaking on one mission on PS4 where they kept doing the same stupid thing over and over and naturally we struggled. If you're a decent person its hard to arrive at the tipping point of bailing even long after you're within your rights. You can end up wasting a lot of time hanging around in team where a completion is unlikely.

What they should have done is communicated the complexity/difficulty of the raids well in advance. People have already picked up on a graphic they posted which said all activities have matchmaking.

I remember that graphic and it's why I was surprised when Quiv said it was otherwise.

I might be back in the solo queue myself. I was chatting to the clan leaders last night on Discord to see what the deal is with the raids and stuff and they reckon the clan is dead. There are regulars on every day but it's 75% inactive so just waiting to see what happens once it's live and if anyone comes back. I'm more than happy to help you through, especially the last hurdle through the world tiers but it looks like I'll be hunting for an active clan in the mean time.
