.... I used to think it was great but through reading I discovered that it basically portrayed Jim as a buffoon. Reading stuff by the surviving members (minus John Densmore) I find the movie basically unwatchable.

For me I should recommend the Box Set from a few years ago for anyone who is looking to get into em in a big way. Live versions of the songs are and Jim is shown to be a master storyteller.

.... and ray still doesn't believe he died and will return from the swamps of Brazil. I like the idea myself

I just watched the new Jonny Depp narrated Doco which Ray claims portrays him in much lighter and positive view, but to me it pretty much continued to portray him as a drunken druggy. (Not that that bothers me).
