I wonder just how calm he really is under that exterior .
I .try to rationalize it in my mind.
Cotchin as a player continues to grow, and in some big games and big moments this year his beast like contested play has seen him move to a level he never has before.
He has abundant courage, footy smarts and skills, it's all there.
So what's happened last two finals?
I honestly reckon he has probably played the game in his head before he's gone out there in a sense.
He must be very nervous about performing his role for the team bearing in mind how crucial it is.
I think it's well worth the coaches having an honest chat to him about it because if that's the case then perhaps the responsibility of also being captain is weighing on him.
So I'm not really looking at it from "the he's not a leaders arseh*le" view, more are we missing out on his great play in these big games because he's putting so much pressure on himself.
Some blokes do.
They get around it eventually but some just overthink the game and are spent before they hit the park.
I reckon he might be a deep thinker.

i like your line i thought. the cameras panned onto the team in the raceway before coming onto the ground cotch looked pale and nervous. honestly its probably a bit of everything not just any one thing. still think hes the captain of choice.

I think its the leadership grp as a whole that needs to be looked at. Cotch needs help, adding Jack would be a good start and maybe Rance.

Ive always felt the better players get more respect from the group and make the better leaders if they do have leadership skills.

But I'm telling you right now Cotch shouldn't be our captain 9 disposals in a elimination final is honestly disgraceful.

I was saying it before his disastrous final but Cotchin is an overrated player and hasn't had a good year. He needs to clean up his disposal, stop going missing for large parts of games and work on his goal kicking.

Really thought he was going to be a Richmond legend when he had that amazing year a few years back and he has still been good but has dropped below everyone's expectations.

Look im really pissed at cotchin also and have said so in this forum pretty hsrshly but deserved , but our lack of class especially in midfield is hurting him big time, with dusty, lids been part only mids, its so easy for good sides to aim and execute his demise, christ no one blocked for him and through our inadequate mids, he couldn't go and try a outside mid role which could have given him the space to break the tag, but he had to stay in tight, which made it so easy to stop him with Goldstein directing ball away from him.
Now those dicks who yelled dont over pay even for a gun mid, can u see why we must.
