I love Cotchin as a player but captaincy needs to change

both Jack and Schulz have the same drop punt with centrifugal spin/vortex on the ball, both fly straight as a die cos they hit it on the point. see: Gunston, see: Breust, see: Hodge, see: Assad, as long as they are within 45 metres because you cannot get the same contact on the ball.

Cotchin was very poor - but this game was lost before the bounce - fancy bringing in Griffiths over Lennon who has been a genuine forward target and adds something in the air and on the deck.

Unbelievable.

Would also like to add that when a player is being tagged out of a game as badly as Cotchin was, at some point, the coaches, or the player need to pull their finger out and have the player being tagged, tag the oppositions best ball winner.

It's the most basic of moves and I couldn't believe how Hardwich failed to pull the trigger - such a move can render two opposition players worthless as opposed to your won.

This is coaching in junior ranks stuff - but he just let his skipper and the team bleed out.

its not even wearing the bloody boots. if he was told that there was a clause in his sponsorship, and he did not say "get f'ed, not today" that is the worry, why he s (ok, this is purely hypothetical i am proposing) why he seeks to please a sponsor, oh, so its a freakin contract with a shoe co, well, just brinksmanship(verb neologism) them, tell them you will get the communications guys in punt rd to leak something against them that will cost them more versus invoking a penalty clause in a shoe deal.

Cotchins lead us to three finals campaigns , interestingly and sadly , you ll find the culprits that let us down today were the same performed their HA standard in 2014 and 2014 also

Who are the same culprits? Every team has bad players, we didnt play well but the game was still up for grabs for nearly the entire last quarter. The game was there for any of cotch, lids or dusty to have a big last quarter and win us the game. They werent good enough and we lost. Why blame the bottom six when our three match winning onballers were put in a position where only one of them really had to step up when it mattered and they couldnt.

He occasionally plays a great game, but probably puts in just as many 10-20 possession ineffective games too. I would take rance, jack, martin, deledio, maric, miles and probably Edwards before him in a draft.

Let's be honest, he is not a captains arseh*le. When does he ever show leadership? Occasionally he leads the team to a win but so do martin, rance, jack, miles and deledio, probably more often too. Cotchin just cannot be relied upon, and at the very least the captain needs to be a model of consistency and effort. Murphy is probably the only worse captain in the league.

Clubs now simply block him from contests and rag doll him outside. If our ruckman are destroyed it makes inside miss job near impossible as clubs train for where the ball will lead and simply block others from getting to that spot . Hodge had a shocker against the cokers , is he one of the worst captains ?
Our issue has and always will be till it is rectified that we have way to many players who are sole
Roles players . They can't play anywhere else or in a different role and the end result is miles and cotchin are our only inside mids. Lock down on one or both and we are cactus .

Hodge had 29 and a goal against the eagles, what are you talking about?

And your spiel about contested possessions is just crap. Cotchin averages 12.3, miles 11.6, Edwards 9.9, martin 8.9, deledio 8.5, grigg 7.5 and Lambert 7.2. There is clearly enough midfield contested ball winning ability there. Yes cotchin is our best, but not by that much.

Besides where would you rotate cotchin to? The forward line? Yeah, enjoy watching him butcher every chance he gets. Of our whole list, the only player I would prefer less when kicking for goal is hampson, and not by that much. That is never something that should even be thought about a captain, but it all goes to the total unreliability he has as a captain.

So right. I so hate all that "look at me" shyt. Its partly my age - I'm the best part of a generation older than Cotch - but its partly simple manliness and get on with it pride we expect from a captain.

He's had poor games in black boots and great games in bright yellow boots, doesn't make a difference.

Cotchin's the best leader we have and maybe that says something about the club. Lids, Jack & Rance arn't the players that are elite leaders either, good footballers and decent leaders however which isn't a bad thing if you have a strong no. 1 & 2 before them.

Really dissapointed with Cotchin's game yday but why don't the coaching staff change it up if he's getting tagged out of it. Have him stand next to Swallow & Ziebell and if his tagger still runs with him we have someone else free. It just seems like there's no plan B for when our big guns are having a dirty day.
