He wanted some control of where he went. He wanted to play for a VIC team but would have preferred Sydney than going to WA, SA or QLD

Nope. CJ was a category B rookie. They're only counted if they're taken using the NGA rules and CJ wasn't.

Silks kids could be guns and still only be the 6th best player in the family. Talk about some solid genetics.

Aunty Erin - Easily best ever AFLW player
Grand pop Greg - SA and Australian Hall of fame. 8 think 8 premierships with Port

I think it's trying to establish which sides actually got a leg up over other teams due to the rules. Everyone had a chance at CJ and didn't select him. Same as Dear, technically a father son, but there ware no bid and matching so we paid full price for him with a draft pick we held and used, just any other player. Had he been bid on by another club and we matched it, then there's a F/S benefit as another club wanted him but wasn't able to select him. At the time it was seen as a long shot pick up and a sentimental pick.
