Heppell really SHOULD win the award this year, thought it won't be the crime some will make it out to be regardless of which way it goes.

He should win it because:

- He's a first year player, who has played 22 games.
- He's had to cope with the loss of Dempsey, and to a lesser extent Hibberd this year.
- He's had to step into a role Essendon were relatively weak in; he couldn't rely on someone else to do it if he couldn't.
- He has stood up and performed in the big games.

It's good that at this point of the year there is still genuine question as to who will take it out.

As impressive as Shuey has been, I think the above points mean that Heppell should be awarded the honour.

About as laughable as claiming that Heppell only 'chip scabs cheap kicks' or 'Heppell will never move to the midfield' or 'doesn't win any of his own ball' or 'Heppell will only win because he is first year' etc etc.

Thats the shit that WCE fans keep spruiking about Heppell. These things are more laughable than what I bolded, which some Essendon fans on here have taken the time to show stats of Shuey Vs top sides which proves their point. Not saying its right or wrong at least they back it up with something though, rather than the rediculous claims I've heard about Heppell.
