Shuey really should win heppel hasnt played good at all the last month or so
Shuey has just accelerated away from the opposition in the last two months. The award criteria isn't that specific, but if it's going to the eligible player who has had the best season, then Shuey wins.
As much as I think he deserves it, the vote will be very close. Heppell has had a very good season, will certainly win the AFLPA Best First Year player award in any case.

I think Shuey has had a better year but when they come to judge it I think they will count that Shuey has had two extra pre seasons of weights and maturing and realise that the performance of Heppell as an 18 year old outweighs the performance of Shuey as a 21 yr old if that makes sense.

Stupid logic. It's the best player of those who are eligible. Shuey is eligible, therefore it should be viewed as a level playing field.
Next there will be arguments to give defenders better weighting in votes/awards because "flashy midfielders" are favoured.

Heppell will win. Shuey has been great this year, as always tho, it will be taken into account that he is a 3rd year player with more pre seasons etc under his belt!

The Rising Star SHOULD just be for first year players under the age of 23, IMO, but that's beside the point - Shuey has had a better year than Heppell when not accounting for anything like age or pre-seasons, and should win the award for that reason.
I think the voters WILL account for Heppell's age when giving him the award, though.

I think this sums up the situation perfectly. It will be interesting which way it goes. If it goes heppell's way we will know they factor in age at-least a bit.

Maybe in Perth.. If it's so commonly accepted, why is Heppell still the clear favorite with the bookies?
Look at all the previous posts, it's pretty much either been West Coast supporters picking Shuey or Essendon supporters saying Shuey has had a better year...
