Jump out of a building, if gravity doesn't exist you have nothing to worry about.

You cannot say the religiously held belief in gravity would be the reason you would plummet to your death until gravity is actually proven.
It could be that there is a different force mimicking the effect of majik gravity.
It could be that you would hit the ground due to a repulsion created from a nearby parallel world.
It's extremely mischievous that people keep using the unproven theory of gravity in the manner you have just outlined.

They didn't come out and say it was shaped like a pear just that it is slightly pear shaped in that the Southern Hemisphere is slightly larger than the Northern Hemisphere. The difference is roughly a kilometre so it is negligible.

Ive seen it written so much so i looked it up. DeGrasse was jokingly explaining to an audience that its more "pear shapedly" after he states that it is an oblate spheroid. And it seems some people take that to mean that he meant a pear you buy at coles. Rather than (as he explained in the thing) below the equator being slightly larger than above the equator.
