Cost us the game, simple.
3 goals from the named forwards, simply not good enough, not excluding anyone here.
And we don't have anything better on our list, need to recruit forwards at season end, PLURAL, FORWARDS.
Bad night for the forwards but unfair to use tonight to assess our needs for an entire season. Surely you know that?

Hey stop using sense and facts as your argument....you know it will end in tears!![]()
I wouldn't normally but matty is supposed to be an aspiring journalist. Would rather he be a good one.
We need to get it back when it was working the Best.
Cloke Get up the Ground and then let the Smalls in Elliot,Fasolo and Blair run into the 50 where Space is given with Cloke taking his Man up the Ground
Dave its a bit hard to drag the entire team up the ground. Port had all their players behind the centre for much of the second half.

Wasn't the forward line at all. The way we structured out F50 setup leaving Port to have one, maybe two men back all night cost us the game. The forwards can only do so much and when there arent enough numbers around to support, the whole thing falls apart. Having Buddy in there tonight wouldn't have helped us one iota.
Well no, because Buddy is a overrated piece of sh_it
Nup
Why is it that hardly anyone saw this? Didn't Hinkley start with 9 defenders at one Centre Bounce? Is Buckley supposed to crowd it?Dave its a bit hard to drag the entire team up the ground. Port had all their players behind the centre for much of the second half.
Emotional post here. The delivery was woeful for a number of reasons.Cost us the game, simple.

You have a short memory. Is tracking to be a 300 game Collingwood great. Don't beat a great player while he is down.Trade Cloke while he still has a lot of value.
Cloke > Dixon + another suns young gun
Hugely overrated and hugely overpaid
Forget 5 years. JDG is going to be our man next year. NomEmotional post here. The delivery was woeful for a number of reasons.
We know that if Cloke gets a one-on-one he'll almost get it everytime (even whilst being molested by an opponent). We know that he is great on a lead too (how many marks does he take up on the wing?)
I'm sorry Matty but I usually enjoy your posts (& reviews) and this is a knee-jerk thread.
Yes, Elliot had a shit one (still 22 touches though)
We need a strong-bodied midfielder who can bust through packs and hit a target. I think there may be one coming out of contract that we should pay $900k a year for if necessary.
(I also think JDG could also be this in 5 years' time)

Kenny said after the game that it didn't matter how many times bucks manned his spare up he was going to persist with it until every player was back there.
It's what they did against Hawthorn. Unfortunately for us and the Hawks we kept trying to do the team thing and pass it, but when the forward line is that flooded you need to just take a crack from outside 50.
And when it wet its harder to kick that long
Yep, but you're better off trying than bombing it straight to a loose player. With the amount of inside 50s we could have just kicked points and would have won.
I'm not saying kick it from like 60 metres out though, but we had players run to, or even slightly past, the 50m arc multiple times. Unfortunately I don't know if you can even coach them to do the opposite in that same match day situation as you'd be coaching against the philosophy for all other scenarios and it'd probably create more complications than it's worth.
Problem is when you try too even that can turn back into too bombing it to the spare. My point wasn't don't try it my point was we were most likely screwed either way. Perhaps a messenger should have got into Oxley or Maynard's ear and told them try and sneak forward and have a ping from long range?
