I suppose I can 'try' to converse with the lesser beings of GD on the topic of video games.... ;)

Anyone else hanging out for Portal 2 here? My most anticipated game this year, April 21st can't come quick enough. Will be holidays so I should be able to pump some serious hours into it.
Lesser being? Who the **** are you?

Not sure what my most anticipated game is at the moment. Can't believe I'm saying it but it might be AFL Live.

Other games I'm looking forward to are:
Uncharted 3 (epic franchise)
next Zelda ('cause I'm cool like that)
Tales of entry (token exclusive game - start buying so Namco gets their arse into line and start localising more than 1 in 5 entries in the series).

That said, game much less than I did in the past. Can't find the time to do so any more - generally only play during the uni holidays.

Should be good. Only problem is the release date. This game is coming out a few days before it which means Portal 2 wont get the recognition it deserves.

You have selected POWER DRIVE. May I suggest FEATHER TOUCH?

power drive.

edit - fuuuu bigfooty, y u no capitals?

Not shit but if thats what you play exclusively then GTFO. Some of the best games ever made are 'mainstream' games. By the way I'm not talking about all popular games, I'm talking about wannabe hardasses who only play the latest FPS and scoff at people playing any game that involves some thinking or broadens your mind a bit.

If you were to only listen to say Nickelback and Linkin Park can you really call yourself a music enthusiast?

HSSB, is it just me or do I see you regularly posting in the Black Ops thread? Also lol @ you pumping up your own tyres.

I agree that you can't, however if they're minding their own business then I don't really care. If however they pretend to be connoisseurs of music in the face of more knowledgeable music fans, then yes it becomes an issue, but surely fans of mainstream games do not act this way toward gamers that enjoy both mainstream and non-mainstream games? Surely not, I mean it's games for **** sakes.

It's not as much that they pretend to be connoisseurs but that they look down upon anyone playing something that isn't in the vein of the latest mega popular generic war shooter. There are people like this out there...

You're treading dangerous territory here.... ;)

Whilst I agree with the music comment the games you are comparing it to aren't seen as the the turds of the gaming world. COD is a very solid product and whilst I'm no hardcore gamer like yourself I still won't look down on someone who chooses COD for their first person thrills.

Games are there for all markets and it's not like anyone here is saying their favourite game is Angry Birds. This is the General Discussion board so this thread is about the general discussion of games. So COD and others of its type were bound to come up at some point. If that isn't to your tastes then retreat to the gaming board.

PS I am looking forward to Portal 2, I am incredibly fascinated to find out how the place has become as ravaged and dilapidated.

Have a look through the Pokemon thread.

Games or music, there's people extremely passionate about either and there's tools that judge people based on the music/games they enjoy.

I don't mind a bit of Nickelback and Linkin Park.... :o:(:D

It's not that I look down upon them for playing/picking it, it's them preaching to others that it is really all they should play and nothing else which annoys me.

Anyways, my first comment was kinda in jest and I didn't expect a proper argument with sense to be extrapolated from it...

I'm interested to see how the plot and setting of the co-op side of the game is presented. GLaDOS interacting with robots will be different to GLaDOS interacting with Chell.

I don't know anything about games so I didn't realise that there were these people out there. I enjoy a lot of popular music, but I also enjoy a lot of old school and underground music too. Talent can come in the mainstream but there are people that will always instantly dismiss anything that is popular because it is that - popular. On the flipside, I understand the feeling of getting frustrated by the ignorant people that have the view that only what's popular can be what is cool, despite the fact that it is often dumbed down.

Opposite views - commercial groupie vs indie elitist. Get in the middle I say.

The games I am looking forward to most that are (in 1 case, potentially) coming out this year are:

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Shit will be epic beyond belief.
Uncharted 3
Rage
AFL Live
The Last Guardian (Might be pushed back to 2012, but god I hope not.)
Mortal Kombat - Will have to get from overseas, thanks Australian classification laws
Batman: Arkham City
L.A Noire
and possibly Duke Nukem Forever, but im scared it will be shit.
