...Hawthorn, an interesting club. In the grand scheme of things a very interesting club.

I just caught their B & F on Foxtel. It said a lot about their club;
c ocky, pretentious, soft and accepting of below par peformances.

Their club has only been successful in a 20 year period of it's entire history. Perhaps the softest club and supporters in the AFL.

Got carried away with it's top 4 berth in 2001. Fans and the club itself thought 2002 would be a walk up start for the flag. Once again, very reflective of their club.

Possibly has the second worst coach in the AFL.

A good response from someone who's club wasn't even good enuff to make the finals to a person whose club was good enough to lose the grand final to the raging favourites by a small margin .

Agreed Rohan, how about that old fossil Ian Dicker pulling out every excuse in the book for a poor season, my personal favourite was the Virus line which apparently plagued the club for eight weeks. Also another great bit was at the end when Ben Dixon was wrapping things up and saying what a great season it was than in the next line he says how disappointing it was, make up your mind himbo and try getting a kick!

Theres plenty to hate about the Hawthorn Football Club.

Ian Dicker is typical of their club in a sense. He's got the runs on the board so to speak but looking at the direction of Hawthorn under him and Schwab, you can see they aren't going anywhere on the field.

I love the call by Schwab.. "and thanks go to Bulldogs for giving up Cox for nothing". Reflective of their arrogant nature when they have no right to.

Lekkas, Graham, Vandenberg, McCabe, Tallis, Dixon and co are half the reason Hawthorn will never win a flag with this current group of players.

Leave Hawthorn Football Club alone or you will get a really angry response from all the Hawthorn supporters.

BTW, Go Brisbane

Go Brisbane now? Better change your avatar then, with you jumping ship all the time...

This sort of criticism happens all the time to all clubs and players, including my club. Learn to put up with it .

This entire thread is pathetic.

How many excuses has Eddie dragged out for Collingwood losing the GF ?

I gave up counting after the first 12 excuses.

You really think that the Coach and the President are really gonna rip into their players in front of 1500 sponsors, officals and supporters at the biggest function of the club's year. It is simply a positive face being generated for the benefit of the people that attended. I was one of those who attended and Ian Dicker is a passionate HAwthorn man who would have been disapointed in the players this year. The guy is our saviour, let him believe what he wants to believe. Ian Dicker isnt a President who needs to get his face on the back page of the Hun to make himself feel important. We owe him big time and he would have been extremely hurt by player performance this year.

Nothing wrong with trying to remain positive, it may be clutching at straws, but people are entitled to be positive. Football gives people something to hope for, and if people didnt believe that success was on the way, what else do they have. Cmon, Collingwood missed the finals for many years, but eventually success comes.

Let the supporters enjoy the night. It may be pretencious and soft, and kidding ourselves, football is what we are about, it brings us all together for functions such as this, and if people love their team, then let them believe what they want to believe.

we may not be the most successful, or biggest or best club in the AFL, but the supporters are just like every other footy supporter, trying to stay positive and look forward to the future.

Dont take that hope away from people..

Ok so Collingwood did well, but how long did it take them to get there??

Maybe you should look in your own backyard before you begin to criticise others.

I loved when Schwab said every player has to be committed to the football club or you can get out just like Eddie McGuire a week prior. He paused and then the Hawthorn fans got on their feet and cheered him.

Hawthorn in my view love to talk up proud, passionate and paid up when only one of those hold true.

Top 4 means SFA. Losing a GF doesn't mean all that much either but it means a heck of a lot more than top 4.

Not to Hawthorn fans ... cos they wuz robbed in the Preliminary Final! :o

Sort of contradicts what you originally posted then, doesnt it.

Well we could use Embarassed, Couldnt give a damn and not worth paying for a membership as our slogan, but doesnt quite have the same ring to it.

I love Hawthorn no matter what. TIs liek your family, they make mistakes, but you still love them. Supporters are exactly that, supporters, to go through the good and bad. But you dont dwell on the negatives, you look at the positives and what can be achieved.

Just like McGuire loved to talk up Collingwood every single damn week of the football year on the Footy Show, to only get results this year?

Rohan, I bet you wouldnt even bring this up if your club hadnt of made the finals. As I said, dont clutch at straws to try ridicule other clubs to cover up your own insecurity.

Exactly my point. They got carried away with almost winning a Preliminary Final for somethings sake.

I was disapointed after the GF but proud. Collingwood fans were humble in defeat, we said all along the better team won.

I don't know one Collingwood fan who is content with living on the GF performance. We boosted our squad with a quality player and we know every team is even on the ladder atm.

This was a foreign concept to Hawthorn fans last year. This arrogance was highlighted in trading Croad.
