Good Aussie hip hop group

I bow to you :thumbsu:

Anyone else like em?

Without doubt, Australia's foremost hip-hop act.

The antidote for Joel Turner, Figg Kidd and Weapon X and Ken Hell as well as the try-hard Kiwi hip-hop acts like Fast Crew, Scribe etc.

Could have signed with Sony for $1m but turned it down.

yep agree they are a brillant aussie hip hop group. love there last album and also like there new single "crown prince"

Hilltop Hoods are by far the best Aussie Hip Hop act and are one of the only with respect globally.

The Calling was their breakthrough in the commercial industry but whether they have gone commercial or not their new stuff is as good as their old. Hopefully their new album "The Hard Road" will exceed the success of The Calling", and although Clown Prince is by far not one of their best efforts, its a pretty good way to get back in after their long spell. If you watch their unbeleivably awesome DVD released last year you can also sample the background music for a new track called "Breathe" which sounds damn good too.

I have the "Left Foot, Right Foot" album and have listened to a lot of their previous albums "Back Once Again" and "A Matter Of Time" and theyre all pretty good.

My top 10 Hilltop tracks are probably in this order...

1) Twilight: Not on any of their albums as far as i know but can be seen as the last track on their Thebarton gig on the DVD
2) The Sentinel (Calling)
3) 1979 (Matter of Time)
4) Immortal MC's (LF/RF)
5) I Believe (LF/RF)
6) Dumb Enough (Calling)
7) Left Foot, Right Foot (LF/RF)
8) The Calling (Calling)
9) Nosebleed Section (Calling)
10) Clown Prince (Hard Road)

and "This is for Life" with Obese Records main man Pegz deserves a mention too

Laids may I just say it made me smile when I seen that you were actually appreciating music that is made by white people..

And Hilltops Hoods are alright, Nose-bleed Section is a cool song..

Have to include the track from Suffa's solo LP 'Suffering City Vol.1'...

FULL TILT BOOGIE

Also GIVE IT UP from 'A Matter of Time.'

not a massive hip hop fan, but i do appreciate it... and i can appreciate these guys... saw them @ the big day out and impressed... whilst not up there with other hip hop acts i've seen like the beastie boys or ugly duckling, they're doing australia proud...

Aussie Hip Hop is going to blow up in a commercial sense soon (hopefully)

artists like Hilltop Hoods, Bliss n Eso, Phrase ect are getting plenty of time on channel v, and radio

Hilltop Hoods are the founders of Aussie hip hop...

They are who made Aussie hip hop what it is today.

Top Hilltop songs are: 1979, When seasons change, Walk on, Left foot right foot, Dumb enough, nosebeled section, the calling, the sentinal, clown prince and many many more.

Other great Aussie artist's include, Pegz, Bliss n Esso (I love these guys!!), Phrase, Hyjack n Torcha.

They were awesome at Falls '04, even at the 2 am timeslot!

The Calling is a gun album, can wait for the new one. Not rapt with Clown Prince, but its the poppy song that every hip hop album releases first up so it will do!

LOL at people saying Phrase is a good hip hop artist, if that's what passes for Aussie hip hop I think I'll stick to America and NZ :) (and to a much lesser extend UK).

ya! Hilltop Hoods own! Best hip hop group.. like ever!

From the Hilltop Hood mailing list!:

Hey everyone,
We have promised many things in the last few months. Finally
next month we'll be able to make good on those promises. Our
new album 'The Hard Road' will be in stores on March 25th, the
new website should be launched in about one to two weeks and
we'll be touring all through Australia in March/April (for
international crew, there'll be some dates announced later in
the year).
In the meantime, our thanks to everyone who picked up our new
single 'Clown Prince', and thanks to all the heads who took time
to check us out at BDO.
One last thing before I list the tour dates. Thanks to all the
good people that have written to us in the last month or so.
We've been flat out in the studio putting the final touches on
the album and we haven't been able to write back to all of you
just yet. Next week when the album's gone off to manufacture
we'll be getting back to all of you. Thanks for your patience!

There is no way they have gone commercial, they had their chance when the calling did so well in what was it, '02, 03? If they wanted to go commercial they would have capatilised and ripped another one out in no time flat.

The fact that its taken them this long, although frustrating to fans, means only that they're doing it their way, commercial success will only be due to their skills, and in todays day and age that is refreshing.

I can't really add more to what has been said other than The Soul of the Beat and Illusionary Lines are probably my favourite tracks.
