Opinion The I Was Wrong thread- Where Tom Atkins posts go to die

Same, really was happy Bartel went on another year but at the same time, he's no longer a valuable commodity like Blicavs, Duncan, Guthrie, Selwood and Dangerfield are today.
Like it has been mentioned in the game-by-game reviews, he is the icing on the cake these days. His past fortnight has been terrific, definitely best footy he has played for well over a couple of years but father time has started to hit home. It's one of those dilemmas the coaching staff face.
Bartel I bracket in the Lonergan category. We have ample replacements necessary and as such, they can be managed from now till the end of the year.

Well at least that's my opinion on it anyways. You would probably disagree which is obviously fine.

You don't think he's contributing ? I agree that he's not in our top bracket of players but he is giving a lot as of the last month or so..

yes I do think he is contributing.
He is benefiting by no longer having to one of the main culprits anymore. Teams don't necessary put a lot of homework into him now. He can do his thing which is still best 22 material but at the same time, we can replace him if he's injured.

I'm a serial "killing it in the two's/when he gets back" offender. Mitch Brown, Scott Simpson (!), Tom Gillies, Prismall (one of my faves in '07), Schroder, Burbury... wow ,now that I think about it, if Geelong signed them and they ever showed anything at any level, I probably rated them. Maybe this thread isn't for me...

Also, convinced Ablett would stay, we had Collingwood's measure in 2010,was on board with the 'Mark Neeld as next Geelong coach' circa 2010.

Nope.

I'm done.

That last one made me gag a little bit.

Off to reassess some major life decisions.

Me too. There was something really seductive about that glossy brochure with player profiles, it somehow always made me too optimistic about rookies and low draft picks: Jordan Schroder; Chris Kangars; Scott Simpson; Jack Weston; Adam Varcoe; Ediriwickrama.

And I was an Eardley believer. Saw him last week on the WAFL replays, he had really cleaned up his disposal. Hard as a cat's head.

Technically this could still happen, but I once said that George Horlin-Smith would win a Brownlow one day.

Maybe I got him mixed up with Josh Caddy.

After Stephen Wells picked a few quality roughies late in the draft in the 2000s I was convinced every random pick between 40 and 70 was a hidden nugget of quality. So much so I'd wait for their breakout game eagerly. Until they were delisted or left the club due to 'personal reasons'.

I'm sure he's been mentioned in this thread already, but at one stage I thought Dawson Simpson would become an AA quality ruckman. I expected him to be doing exactly what Max Gawn is doing right now.
Every time I hear 'Max Gawn', memories of Boris' 300th come flooding back into my mind. So traumatic... :'(
