The Iceman

I have read the book and watched the interviews. Hard story to believe but in the book he talks about how when he was younger before he became a proper contract killer he used to walk around some dodgy areas on NJ and NY and murder homeless people and hookers to practice the art of killing. He is proper messed up. One of the most interesting books I have read. I think some of it is an exaggeration but I think it is mostly true.

Let's use some common sense here:

He claims he killed over 50 people in Manhattan and claimed they were people no one would miss. But don't you think if 50 DBs turned up over a 2 or so year period then from page of the NYT would be story about a serial killer stalking NYC? Son of Sam only killed about 5 people and the whole city was in panic.

He probably killed less than 5 people in contract hits. He's a massive bullshit artist. Also claimed he was present at the Castellano and Galante hits. Pure fantasy.

No disrespect, but anyone who believes mus of what this guy claims is a bonafide idiot.

If he does say over 50 then yes that seems like absolute BS. I read it a long time ago and thought it was only a few people. I found the parts about his early childhood the most messed up. The bits about his father bashing his brother to death in front of him and such.

Robert Pickton managed to murdered almost 50 people off the streets here in Vancouver. He was convicted of around 30 of them. It did take a while for the police to catch on because they were people that were not really missed. I guess it could be possible.
Yep, when it's people who are already on the fringes of society who are disappearing, it can take quite a while.

In the Pickton case, a few of those women weren't reported missing for a year.

But did he leave DB's scattered around the city?

Our man Kuklinski claims he just killed these people on the spot and left them for dead.

Kuklinski's claims are so absurd that police wouldn't have even bothered logging onto their system to cross reference his claims. It would have been case of "Do I remember lots of dead bodies turning up in Manhattan around that time? Nup. No need to actually check. Enjoy your bird you loser".

My mind goes back to the body in the barrels case and how SAPOL never cared. Its only when one of the fringe members of the group slipped up did anyone care. In fact SAPOl knew that missing persons bank accounts were being raided by third parties, they turned a blind eye. Because it was the Elizabeth region

Iceman could be legit..

For the 3rd time: the bodies disappeared in the bodies in the barrels case whereas with kuklinkski HE SAID HE LEFT THE BODIES WHERE HE KILLED THEM.

There is a difference between:

1. People disappearing and,

2. 50 corpes showing up in parks, laneways, streets etc over a short period.

Lot of thick people about. Just sayin'.

Kuklinski's story is a lot of them were never identified as murder victims - more other causes of death etc.

And most of them were mob killings - so not exactly "unsolved" in the manner of a random serial killer - they just don't know exactly who did it.

probably around 15-20

The guy was messed up, However claimed he killed over 100 was hugely overestimating.

the one thing i dont get is that he turned on the mob, he spent his entire life killing squeelers, what did he think was going to happen?

have read the book a while ago, I forget but how many people did he dispose off with the cave of giant rats?

A lot of the high profile murders he claimed to play a part in have been proven false by the FBI. Even his connection with Roy DeMeo is flimsy. Although he claimed to be a part of the DeMeo crew he was only ever once seen at the social club in years of surveillance. And was never seen directly with Roy himself with the FBI questioning if he had any association at all.

i've no doubt he knocked off his share of people, but find it very very hard to believe the numbers that he claimed are true.

more seems to be me that he knew he was behind bars for life and figured he might as well big note himself.

Son of Sam was killing in the late 70's. Kuklinski would have started killing in the mid 1950's. Different level of media (only half the population would have had televisions), different level of police capabilities, different socio economic group of victims. Now I have no doubt that Kuklinski hammed it up, but it's equally illogical to dismiss it just because there was no hysteria.

The International version of Chopper Reid.

Wasn't he a Mafia hitman. Dude is scary even if his stories are made up.

Just watched The Iceman movie. Was pretty good.

Thought the Captain America guy was quite good in it. It's a shame that once he pockets the $$$$ from the superhero shite he plans to quit acting if I remember correctly. Was looking forward to him being able to be more selective with his roles.

Yeah he was pretty good. There was quite a few name actors in bit roles, took me like 10 minutes to realise the guy who worked for Ray Liotta's character was David Schwimmer!
