Ever played a game of Cheakers/Draugh's you have to go over the oppositions tile to capture them...

Well my theory is this... If I am Mark Ricciuto for example.... and I have possession of the Football, and I am just outside the 50 metre arc and I notice my entire forward zone is completely flooded with 18 Sydney Swans

mind you we have been completely dominant all day but just havent registered too many goals

why would I try to find a lead ? handball, chip around etc.... what I would do regarldess of how accurate at goal I was I would be to absolutley Roost that ball as far as I could toward goal

If you cant go thru them go over them !!!

If any players (inclusive of rookies) could'nt kick a minimum of 50 Metres they should'nt be in the A.F.L

If Adelaide had of done this against Geelong at Skilled we would of won that game....

Although I'm staggered a Crows fan can't spell their captain's name, I think there's something in what you say. I still think the way to win footy matches is to get the ball into the forward line ASAP giving forwards a 1-on-1 chance, and having small forwards sharking crumbs and snapping goals.

Genius.

Why aren't you coaching at AFL level?

That is a sure fire premiership strategy.

No need for sarcasm buddy !

I haven't seen a team try that once !
most flooding game's that I have seen players panic with no presssure from behind (after all...all the opposition are in front of you) and they chip around etc....

it seems simple, but it isnt dude
if you kick to a one on one, as soon as it hits the deck, the flooding players will presumably - a majority of the time win the ball.
the good thing about chipping it around is, if your players are good enough you can retain possision and hit up someone on a lead anyway

I hear you dude ! but if there is not a 2 square Metre part of that zone not covered by a player and you could Bomb that ball so far over their reach why not do that ? if you score a behind big deal like I said our midfield is dominating so there is going to be heaps of opportunitys to score so just bomb bomb bomb !!!

Collingwood did that in 2002 against the saints the week after the imfamous stkilda flood against sydney. Stkilda thought they would try against us so we chipped the ball around outside 50 until our big kickers like rocca and lonie got the ball.

Can't remember that game but .... If Malthouse did that he is a genius !!

Oh and to the people who are all for chipping around until you find a lead..

If you do that too often you'll be tackled...there are that many players around you... chances of a turn over are worth backing
