A political career that may last about as long as Mal Maninga.

Genuinely do not understand how he is liked in Perth, once a flog, always a flog.

I think people are voting for him just to keep him away from the commentary box.

What's this 'Western Australian Liberal Party' you speak of?

I thought McGowan purged WA of traitors to the people when he founded the Western Australian People's Glorious Socialist Jamahiriya in 2021?

LOL.

Baz is far from liked across Perth although he definitely has name recognition. You'd think he'll do well running in a traditionally blue ribbon seat and strong brand with the 70+ crowd.

And don’t forget the Dirty Bird Supporters.

Whoever told you he was liked in Perth?
I have yet to hear one West Aussie tell me they like Nasil.
And yes, I am A West Aussie.

Poor Basil, even Murdoch press is laughing at him. Might have to get his old schoolmate Porter to give him some advice...

Murdoch may well be laughing at him, but remember the other satan, Stokes is backing him.
Have you ever watched the closing of Telethon!! It really is ssickening the way he drools and dribbles about Stokes.
He is a cretin.

I lived there for 6 years and couldn't for the life of me figure out how he was a "perthonality". I put it down to being well connected, but enough people liked him to make the flog Mayor! LOL

The scary bit is, with how badly the WA Liberal Party is going, they will see him as their saviour.

He was the pick of a bad bunch to run.Remember the previous LM did herself no favours and was on the nose..Pardon the pun.
He was the Golden Boy and still is of Stokes.I am sure that Stokes made sure there was enough good stories writtenabout him in his Dirty Rag.
As for how bad they are going, I wish they would just disappear for good.Though they have a female as their leader, she is a useful as a oar on a sinking row boat.
The entire Lieberal party is run by negative Nellies, State and Federally.

If they cant win places like Churchlands & South Perth back this state election they may as well switch the lights off.

They’ll win back quite a few seats. Churchlands is solid Liberal and Labor only hold it on a slim margin. I would say straight off the bat the Coalition will get at least 20 seats with 30 needed for a majority (looking at seats that ‘traditionally’ vote Liberal. Anything with a swing of less than 15-20% could come into play.

The “state daddy” stuff is long over, Roger Cook was a surprise choice to replace him IMO given some of the well publicised stuff ups when he was health minister.

If the opposition leader is Libby Mettam she doesn’t have too much baggage attached and is less polarising, potentially Basil would have to wait until she’s in power and then knife her from behind.

Until more polling is done I can’t say for certain which may the vote will swing but certainly no-one is expecting a Labor landslide again.

How would Basil influence this? I’m not sure but he’ll get some ‘celebrity’ vote - might be like Arnold Schwarzenegger who managed to get elected as Governor of heavily Democrat California as a Republican.

Also it entertains me greatly that they still have Ian Goodenough floating around.

Rumour is he will be turfed at preselection for Vince Connolly, a former SAS soldier who was on the same SAS intake course as Andrew Hastie who’s expected to challenge for leadership after Dutton.

expect its very different out west .... but cooks premiership has been notable for the lack of commentary on its performance [which is not a bad thing - especially for a govt this old]
