there was a passage of play today that made me think Blair's gonna be a class player. he was in the centre and just the way he balanced himself and beat an opponent. has strong nerves and is good in close. might be on the roids. has the body of an 18 year old west coast player in the early 90's.

I like beams' football brain. kid know when to hand pass when to be selfish. jack anthony has no idea.

about a year ago i said on this forum goldsack should never be left out. what more can one say. guy can fly, he has pace, can take smalls and talls. doesn't need to play for two years to get a feel for it, has played interrupted and always performs. MICK, the kid plays every week, no more stuffing him around.

We had 14 players under the age of 23 today, not bad for the top of the ladder team.

Simply means we are going to be around for a while, Bucks must be stoked with the list he is going to inherit.

I agree on the Blair comments, he has the poise of a future star, even if he has to make way for some bigger names this year.

Beams won the medal for BOG, so that says enough about him. Sidebottom back in top form too, and Wellingham had 19 disposals in the first half before being "rested" as a precaution.

The future looks bright.

Especially when you consider or oldest players today, Leon & Ben Johnson, will have ready made replacements in Dicky & JMac/Sinclair, when they hang them up.

I don't think Dick will have an AFL career unfortunately. His body simply cannot handle the physical aspects of AFL footy. He is far, far too thin, and it's his bone structure, he is simply a stick. He isn't someone that will put on a lot of weight. The shoulder issues are just the beginning IMO.

Strangely enough same size as Davis when drafted. Slightly taller.

Will be fine, gyms hard back better then ever

Heard that said before and have looked into it. Looking at pictures of them at the same age, Leon was not as rake thin narrow shouldered as Dick IMO. Dick is one of the thinnest players I've ever seen at AFL level. Reminds me of a young aboriginal player from Richmond who's name I cannot remember who played only a few games for them 4 or 5 years back, who just stood out for how thin he was. A comparison in weight doesn't tell anywhere near the full story.

I think the myriad of injuries he is getting speak to the fact also. Structurally his body cannot currently handle AFL footy.

I can't agree there. He had a knee reco which cost him a year & a half and that had nothing to do with body size. It wasn't even a contact injury. ACL can be like that.

Dick had a shoulder op in December 2009(key hole surgery) to tidy up his shoulder. It obviously didn't work and now needs the full shoulder reco.

Those are his only 2 injuries, albeit long term ones.

Blair is the one that has surprised me, I had doubts - not any more

Agreed. I wasn't sure if he could cut it at AFL level. But he's a tidy user and is composed with the ball in his hands. May get bumped out of the side come finals time, but he definitely has a bright future for the Pies.
