Advice request please :). Am contemplating buying a much sought after retired set from eBay for Christmas, as I found one in Australia. It would be the most I've ever spent on a single set. How safe/reliable is eBay purchasing, particularly if the seller only has fewer than 100 transactions? Might seem strange but I've never used it and font have an account. Thank you.

depends on their feedback. as a 0 feedback buyer they may be cautious of you as well but if you pay up they should send.
paypal good, as already mentioned.
may like to check their insurance offerings.

i feel generally ebay more likely to have piece count errors, compared to buying from a bricklink lego nerd. but mistakes are not common. for never opened stuff that shouldn't be an issue of course.
pictures are pretty instructive and can give you a good idea of any set problems that the seller may not even be aware of (plenty of people without an interest that sell lego). i've always tended to absorb any miscounts when buying sets, just doesn't seem worth the hassle. then go through bricklink for replacement bits where i can buy spares for missing pieces and other pieces at the same time.

my wife ordered Lego for a Christmas present for me from Myer, couriers please have lost the package that was sent 3 weeks ago, ill have to wait until next week before i get it, fingers crossed

my wife got a email this morning saying its ready for collection, except they was closed today, have to wait until Monday, at least they found it

Not Lego, but I preordered something in August as a Christmas present to myself (knowing full well that its release date wasn't until the 12/12). Rolled the dice on whether it would arrive from the US in time for Christmas. Cleared customs in Sydney on the 21/12 and ... No updates since :(

Hoping it appears out of the blue one day but just like the interwebs, the last mile is always the biggest bottleneck 🤦‍♂️

picked up the parcel on Monday, i was surprised

four boxes inside the main box containing the bags, pot luck trying to find the bags, one box contained 1,3,14 and 15 bag

the instruction book is big almost 500 pages and is heavy

the first bag is done, well the first actually contains 6 bags that make up the first bag, took me about 3 hours to do, a lot more advanced then Titanic, Titanic was a lot of repetition

big pile of bricks for first "bag"

To say I’m jealous is a huge understatement

Happy New Year Lego fans!

A few sets I was too slow to preorder on the Lego website are now on backorder.

Has anyone placed a backorder directly with them before, does it take a while to fulfill usually? I'd much rather sit and wait than mess around with scalpers and resellers.
