This is due to solarium's and trips to advanced hair. He spends more time there than on the footy field. He's not what we need, we need a tall forward who can pinch hit in the ruck which is not him. I say no to one trick pony's.

Highly doubtful he'd be on the club's radar - not what we're after. Carlton will be into him and he'll probably be a handy option for them.

Could not agree more RandB. It is last year all over again.

I'm on the fence tbh. I hate Anthony but, who knows what he COULD be. There's possibility I guess, least he's better then Newton... isn't he? :P

Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

Bailey wants him. The only way he won't be a dee is if someone else snares him before us.

I guess if Bailey has such a hard on for Anthony, what do we use on him? Do we use a pick in the National Draft? Is he even available in the ND? Or do we trump Freo and Carlton and save a pick for the PSD on him?

Personally, i don't see the harm in recruiting him. He won't cost a great deal, and we won't be wasting a high pick on him. Has proven he can kick goals at AFL level and can fill a hole in defense if need be.

As it stands, of the contenders, we have first dibs on him in the PSD. Freo and Carlton are obviously behind us.

That said, order usually means little in the PSD as players are able to name their terms going in, so if the Blues or the Dockers offer him a front-ended deal they basically price us out.

One thing is for certain though, the loss of Bruce opens up both the spot and the salary cap space to go after him if we want to.

What makes everyone think Bailey wants Anthony in a big way?
from what I have seen at best he has an interest.
However I still think we will struggle to out bid Carlton.

How so? We do not have players on heavy contracts like Carlton. I would think we are in a better position salary cap wise than both Fremantle and Carlton. If the club wants him they are in a fantastic position to get him in the PSD

F*ck it then! Let's go after him! We need a Full Forward. Will take the pressure off us having to pick 12 on a tall forward. Mind you, if Darling is available, I'd still be taking him! Anthony is still young and has proven himself at the highest level. Won't break the bank as far as salary cap goes, and won't cost us a massive pick in the draft.

Melbourne will not draft Darling, he is a nutcase with a bad attitude. Off-field problems at night clubs and such. Not a good individual to have out our club, IMO.

I know, but if he gets his off field issues sorted, he will be a star of the competition. Big risk could equal big reward! Big risk could also equal no reward, but personally, i think the kid is worth the risk....

Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

From what I have seen, read and heard he is definitely worth the risk and his so called "off field issues" are no more than the usual teenage shenanigans.

Do you actually know something there, blydog??
