We could go undefeated in the Home and Away season and win the Preliminary Final by 120 points and the lid will still be firmly in place. There is zero trust in this team when it comes to a GF.

Prove. Me. Wrong.
Same here. Still love me Swannies, but absolutely ECO when it comes to grand finals until further developments. Half considering not even watching the next one live. (And of course that will be the one where we lead for the whole game.)

So the conclusion is the lid remains on for some even after we win a flag.

For others the lid is always off in the off season.

And there are those that care more about the jar than the lid.

Who needs Jean-Paul Sartre when you have Big Footy !

I see it more of a Schrödinger’s swan type of situation.

The lid is on and off at the same time.

We've brought our stock to the simmer and have just added in all of our veggies and meat to come together. The flavours are starting to release and some of those new ingredients are incorporating nicely.

Now we've got a few weeks to turn up the heat and bring it to the boil.

By the end of April we'll be needing to turn the exhaust fan on and by June the lid will be coming off.

I have no interest in being top of the ladder mid-season or being the minor premiers. I'd rather we scrape into 4th with momentum & perform through the WHOLE finals series! I may appear harsh, but if we finish top 4, nothing less than a premiership. I've followed the Swans since the mid 1960's. This is the most talented list, mixed with more experience & muscle, that we've had in my lifetime. Window says next 3 years & can be anything if we play with more steel.

The lid is long gone. Now working with resealable pouch.

Lid is firmly on and will stay on for me until this Swans list proves it can:

  • Apply elite forward pressure
  • Defend opposition ball movement
  • Stick tackles

I don't think any team can win a flag without doing these things well and typically this team have struggled with them. Although my hope is that Rosas may help with the first one.

I think we'll most likely make a preliminary final and if the chips fall our way we might make the Grand Final. I hope by shedding the deadwood in the off-season and gaining a few good forwards we get the confidence to go one step further. Lions are tough to beat though.

No injuries to key players is a huge bonus. McDonald being on the field is fantastic. Now we can use McLean and Amartey as backups. Having an actual forward line will be a huge boost.

The only worry for me is our backline.

Too early to get over-excited. Recruited the right kind of cattle, both players and coaches, so the first steps are good ones. Now we need to see how well it all gels. It may take a little while (or not happen at all!) but if it does we should definitely make finals. After last year that would be a step forward but not lid off territory. Let's check again in July.

If we dont make finals then the flames should be tickling Cox feet its not a high bar at all.
