Im doing a bloody project on an area that is being affected by climate change. The Maldives would be a good place to do it about but i cant get any info, wikipedia is crap and google is giving me retreats in the Maldives. If you got any good links feel free to post them.

I've been there. In fact, I left the Maldives 5 days before the tsunami struck! I saw footage of the exact same resort we'd stayed at, just smashed and devastated.

It is unbelievably close to sea level. They are building a second, man-made island to replace where the capital Male currently sits. Tiny little streets, very cool place, but so vulnerable.

Feel free to comment on my final paragraph. If you see anything wrong with it now is a good time to comment because i got to hand it up tommorow.

However the government will not have a bar of John Daly’s theory, believing that if they become complacent they will stand no chance of being able to evacuate the people and defend themselves against the rising waters. Even though the Maldives have signed the Kyoto Protocol along with other key players in greenhouse omissions, the sad reality is that these islands will go under water sooner rather then later. The people will have to come to terms with losing their livelihoods, the children will lose any stability they may have had and neighbouring countries may not be generous enough to give the Maldives citizens asylum. It is sad to think that the very people who have cause this problem are indeed everyday Australians, Americans, Europeans and every other person who is not willing to sacrifice a little of their comfortable lives so that people like the Maldives citizens don’t lose their livelihoods.

It seems a bit preachy and opinionated but as I don't have your assignment sheet or haven't looked at the links you got the info from, I can't really comment.

Yeh thats really what i was looking to do with the assignment, i couldnt get to many stats and numbers that explain The Maldives standing, so i thought ill go with the 'We must stop corrupting the environment' approach. Anyway teachers love that bs.
