Another club (Norwich) appointing from within, lucky that the best candidate has just happened to be under their noses the whole time!

Was going to come in and say exactly this. The amount of clubs being sucked in by the honeymoon period and the easy way out option - Spurs, Norwich, Swansea etc. - is going to hurt them. Swansea apparently aren't a sacking club but I can't see Monk seeing out the season.

In this case, it wasn't even a honeymoon period - they didn't win a game and got relegated! (Admittedly it was a tough run)

But I know what you're saying. It makes sense that you would appoint a caretaker from within on an interim basis, but you would surely have to question the clubs' managerial recruitment processes and criteria if they led you to the conclusion that the best candidate to take over was already working within the club. It might be understandable at smaller clubs in the lower leagues that are less attractive and don't have the resources of their larger counterparts, but not so much at the top level.

Hughton is a good boss, not the first manager to lose it at a club who spent big from lower leagues in foreign countries.

Manuel Pochettino looks almost certain to become Spurs manager in the coming days according to ITK.

I couldn't be arsed with the final two months of the season because of the boiling negativity around the club, so I've had a self-imposed ban from Spurs forums for a few weeks and will be taking the summer off any Spurs transfer gossip.

Hopefully he is the man to sort us out. Give him 3 years and don't even consider sacking him.

Has apparently been told to get them into the top 4. Has clauses in his contract for if they don't. Does Tottenham even have the squad to be challenging the top 4?
I think we're around 6th.

Keep in mind that we do have 7 players with a year in England under their belts.

Chadli I don't expect will improve, Soldado will probably go back to Spain.

Chiriches and Capoue will probably stay.

Being an Argentine, hopefully he can get the best out of Lamela because he could be anything.

Good appointment for Spurs but can't help but feel that Southampton's good season will hurt them - seems like they will be gutted this summer and lose a lot of the key individuals at the club/in the team. Just goes to show how hard it is to break into the top 6 these days - you can get close but if a bigger club comes sniffing, your best players/manager might get itchy feet.

Will be interesting to see if/how they go about replacing the outgoing people. Hopefully they reinvest well.

Perhaps they can take Pardew back :D

If Pocchetino's given a few years then he'll do well there

But he'll be sacked by Christmas

Would be interesting what Soton does though, hire David Moyes? Moyesy definitely getting a job somewhere if he wants one. Soton needs to hire someone that can help them keep their players

5 years excessive. No doubt Pochettino would have wanted assurances he will be there for a long time not a good time.

Still, all the rumours flying around about clauses in his contract if he doesn't make CL next year kind of voids it.

I am seriously looking forward to the hard-nosed styled of managing he employed at Soton though. Should weed out all the down hill skiers.

Sincerely hope Siggy doesn't get the boot.

If I wasn't so peed off with MP right now I'd suggest we appoint an interim manager and then have him back in January when Spurs give him the flick. I could handle him leaving for a regular Champions League team, but Spurs? Give me a break - if he wanted to manage in the Europa League then stick with us for a few more seasons. Or don't put out a reserve side in the FA Cup and we would've qualified this season FFS!

If you sell all your good players which is expected to happen you're hardly going to be a Europa league team.
