Yeah well I do, and despite the hatred for J.P, his work has been very helpful personally. While he comes off a little preachy and is overly religious, the foundations of what you find in the bible are basically good values anyway. I don't think there's any argument that pr0n damages family values, and it damages both men and women equally. I think promiscuous relationships are destructive for long term mental health and family values and while the sex before marriage thing is extreme, there is some merit to the arguments made for it. I often wonder if people spent more time working and building on a relationship with this in mind we would have as many dysfunctional families today?

So why do so many people hate J.P despite clearly being knowledgeable in clinical psychology? I certainly wouldn't go to him for political advice but when he talks about resilience, particularly building it in children it's certainly got merit.

It's saying you should be able to handle more trauma without breaking than you have.

Well I certainly don't agree with Helicopter parenting. I think that's the key point of raising kids to become independent. You're there to help them, but hey need to learn through failure and disappointment. I don't see anything wrong with his approach. I've learned more in the last 5 years through all the bullshit I've had to endure than I ever did while I had no accountability and minimal struggles in life.

I've become the person I am today through the dark times.

I addressed a few key points, I never said only failure and disappointment teach. You don't think I would acknowledge encouragement for example, and the power that brings to young people.

I'm not friends with J.P, and I don't agree half of what he says and quite frankly I think some of his content is garbage. I guess that's why I'm independent because I never brush someone off because of one aspect of them such as Jordan Petersons case. If I'm reading a self-help book that doesn't mean I just accept everything in that book. I'll critically analyse it and work out what's relevant to ME and what isn't.

And i think you've just called yourself an independent thinker.
You can't spend all your time listening to this stuff and not be impacted. It's clear from some of your posting that you've been impacted you just don't think you have
No one is immune to propaganda.
There are plenty of people out there you could watch instead of JP and Tate to het good messages from that don't involve also listening to their bullshit on many topics.

That's great but I don't think you needed to have a drinking problem or health issues to get there.

I don't hate him, he just says a lot of really stupid things. His fans think he is the world's smartest man, and then when he goes on about climate change denial stuff and things completely unrelated to his own field of knowledge, a lot of his fans think he must be right because he is incredibly smart and he is saying things that want to believe is true. So he is just spreading a bunch of misinformation and giving it fake credibility because he is a well know public intellectual.
