They'll need to throw one of collins or cox forward or get Johno up forward. We need some height (and in the perfect world, someone taller than collins/cox) - or we are going to watch Brisbane and successive teams outmark us in the forward line, neither Cam nor Kersten are able to stand up against a monster sized kpd and routinely bring the ball to ground - or at least, they haven't so far.

Someone needs to second ruck too.

And yet we've named Blakely in Taberner's position. 5 man forward line incoming.

Blakely up forward is a travesty for the team and for his development.

Cox is all Australian U18 CHB- Johnno (and pitch hit in ruck)will go forward or Collins. Don't forget Munday is over 190CM and can play forward. very surprised the habitual turnover artist Sutcliffe survived!!

Just means we'll have a lot of mids rotating forward. Some of them have had their moments this year with a few bags. Fingers crossed.

It's Brisbane though. Chance to get the structures right, like we did against Essendon earlier in the year. Oh well.

Coaching staff are *******s who have gone back to only playing 2 talls despite 3 years of repeated results showing it to be a mistake. Now our remaining talls get double teamed and we fail to score 70 points like the last 3 years.
And Griffin as resting ruckman when he goes through. Goddamn. Griffin is awful up forward, cant mark and very slow

Plus turnovers which were an issue last week. Ruck on ruck he wasn't that bad. But when moving around ground the issues arose. not good for match against Stef.

Taberner had more turnovers when he was in the ruck last week than Griffin did.

Griff was fine in the ruck as I mentioned.
But there is no comparison when one of them is up forward, in terms of individual and team productivity. Griffin is a liability around the ground.

Taberner's had almost as many clangers (one less) as he's had possessions in the last two weeks. That means for every time he's earnt a possession there's an equivalent possession that he's given up to the oppostion. The majority have been free kicks against when he's been rucking. One last week was to step outside the circle as the ball was thrown up in the middle.

Another last week was to run thoughtlessly into the protected area (and give away a 50m penalty that costs a goal) when his opponent has a free kick in the centre square.

It wasn't a technical free kick by the umpire...two other players ran out in different directions to get out of the zone and then Taberner strolled through almost alongside Moore as he was setting up for the kick - which Moore duly converted into a goal.

How much is he thinking about his game and his team mates when he does something like that?

These are the things the lack of effort kind of things that have led to him to be dropped back to the WAFL to work on, rather than the spilled marks.

The availability of big players has changed over the years. 190cm was a hulking giant of a forward once upon a time. But the likes of Buddy, Hawkins, Walker and the occasional appearance of a ruckman are significantly taller - consequently, teams usually have a seriously tall defender to attempt to negate those seriously big dudes.

If you are the target and the ball is in the air instead of your chest and there is someone a hand higher than you, the difference is a miscontest and it aint in our favour without Tabs (yes, he stuffed up with the marking, but at least the ball goes to ground which is still an opportunity in our forward line for someone else).

Basically, no Tabs means - unless someone steps in/up - our going back to round 1 and 2 with routine marks by the opposition and a completely wasted forward entry.

The problem is nowaday modern team attack start at the back. By sending a person on tab , they can rebound quickly as his ground ball and chanse is too slow if he can mark the ball. Is the same thing in Rd 1 and 2 instead of tab Griffin playing in the forward line.

More a problem that our only small playing in Crozier always wanted to fly and try to take a speccy instead of waiting to pounce on any spills.

I agree with you, Grey has been okay, but Crozier needs to know when to fly for everything and when to rove, needs
to be more involved in the play, improve defensively.
At our best we had Ballas, Walters, Mayne kicking bags, working hard to retain the ball in our forward half.
As another poster suggested maybe we should try Deluca as a small forward instead of Crozier?

TBH , that is another problem all together , surely after 5 year , ballas , Walters should have known Tab can't mark the ball not just croz .

He takes contested marks at a decent rate. But if not he will bring to the ground unlike Croz because of size.

My question is how can a player take 7-8 in a contested in a match and totally drop off completely in other match . I rather he take 4 contested and 4 uncontested consistently than this yo yo form .if rain just forget about playing tab , will only play tab if Griffin not playing .

He is a key position forward - they go up and down, particularly young ones.

It's going to rain today in Brisbane apparently so might be reasonable call but then why not Kersten or Griffin out?

Anyone who can watch that farce and still not understand Taberner's importance to our forward structure is thick as shit.
Yep.

Watching McCarthy and Kersten continually get outmarked and outbodied was great fun.

At least Tabs is able to half the contests and get the ball to ground.

McCarthy and Kersten are third talls.
