Just saw an ad on fox. Derm hosting a half hour Cyril circle jerk. Tuesday 830. Not even joking.

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

He suggested it in jest, but he's actually got it...

Fox footy ads are so cringeworthy and bizarre. It's like a channel full of in jokes between retired fat full forwards.

The great man is only at Channel 9 because he's the only one who hasn't ballooned since retiring.

Don't you find it strange that Dean Bailey got suspended for deliberately losing ( they used another term) and yet this is allowed to go on? That was the harshest penalty on an individual ever. As if a first time senior coach would deliberately lose off his own bat. How did the CEO, President, Board of Melb escape penalty and anyway how is that different to what Ross Lyon and Scott have done? Deliberately not trying to win for the greater good of the club is ok sometimes clearly

Bailey wasnt the only one punished. Chris Connolly (Football Director) was banned for 12 months from memory, for basically being the driving force behind it all.

I'm genuinely interested to see how Jono Brown turns out. Will he turn into the Big Brown Bear with the Big Beer Belly (who said alliterative prose was nonsensical?)? We all know he's a fun loving country boy who's honest and talks straight and doesn't bullshit and drinks beer and loves footy so I reckon it's definitely happening.

does it compromise the games integrity when we put trengove or wines in for early surgery or not rush carlile back, or leave monfries out, all 4 would be playing if we were playing for a top 4 spot this week.

Absolutely no comparison. Trengove and Wines both had injuries which required surgery at some stage and no football supporter would expect players long term future to be put at risk. However 'resting' uninjured players who do not have injury is another matter.

In any case Wines injured his shoulder against St Kilda and we still had a very rough chance of a finals berth at that stage. If we apply your logic Wines would have played the following week. He didn't.

But they were trying to get better draft picks so they could win ( one presumes) and haven't Melb and Carlton come on along way since the Kreuzer cup of 2007? Motivation to make club more successful by not trying to win immediate game in front of them. Pretty similar

Bonkers. And no they haven't come a long way since 07

I hope they carry that form into finals then are dissolved and replaced by a team in Tasmania. That's how it rolls, right Penbo?

I saw this bitter creature at the Zahra Foundation launch last night and contemplated asking him who his beloved corporation was going to blame now for missing out on a home final, surely not themselves.
I opted for a dismissive glance instead and proceeded to enjoy a great night.

Does it test the integrity of the game when Bulldogs lose to Brisbane and Crows lose to Cats because players are saving themselves for the finals, rather than Dockers and North resting players for the finals. What is the difference??!@!!

I totally agree, on the exception of the cows... They were talking all week thinking they were just going to roll up in Geelong and get that win.

Showed absolute no respect to the cats all week, and they got what they deserved.

I'm sure Graham Cornes will still blame North Melbourne for resting and losing their game. Unless I miss my beat he will say that removed all incentive for the cows to win, and hope that less than half of all South Australians do not realise that as the Bullies lost, they could have got into the finals. But he could even try to explain that away by saying that as the Bullies game was slightly later the cows could not take heart from the fact they lost.
He may even try to bring up the timing of that game and compare it with the 1978 soccer World Cup controversy where Argentina's game to progress was scheduled after Brazils' game against Poland and the wide-held belief was that when the required margin was known then Peru threw the game. Which would also not be much of an argument at all as that game was finished not much later than the cows game. The cows would have been aware when they were 11 points down at 3/4 time that Brisbane and the Bullies were locked in a titanic struggle.

How's Porter's poo pooing our crowd in the Age? "Significantly, the 38,633-stong crowd was down 11,451 on Port's average home crowd attendances at Adelaide Oval. The fans had their say their say about Fremantle's team changes."

Not only are his figures wildly off, it just shows a lack of true understanding of the context of this game and what a really good crowd it actually was.

Port's 3rd highest crowd against fremantle (I think), in what cows ambassaders were was nothing more than a trial game/exhibition game all week, going against the 2nd day of the royal adelaide show, going against local league and country league finals, and playing a Rottnest Island all star team.

bloody excellent crowd in any ones terms.

15,434 attended the Brisbane vs Western Bulldogs match. Expected, but still poor.

25,424 attended the Sydney vs Gold Coast match. Top four side, a week before they travel, but nothing is said.

26,128 attended the Geelong vs Adelaide match. Three Geelong legends retiring, but nothing is said.

33,182 attended the Hawthorn vs Carlton match. Competition powerhouse versus a 'big four' club, but nothing is said.

36,165 attended the West Coast vs St Kilda match. Top two team, but still average.

40,461 attended the North Melbourne vs Richmond match, on a Friday night. Two finalists, including a 'big four' club, but nothing is said.

Melbourne vs Greater Western Sydney will be lucky to attract 25,000. Nothing will be said.

Collingwood vs Essendon - two 'big four' clubs - will be lucky to attract 35,000 between them. Aside from Eddie McGuire requesting AFL assistance 'for the good of the game', nothing will be said.

38,633 (mostly Port Adelaide supporters) attended the Port Adelaide vs Fremantle Reserves match? Dust off those tarps, bandwagoners!

"Disgraceful article by Ashley Porter"

Lol 38k in a #yepconfirmed dead rubber with freo resting 11 first 22 players, the adelaide show on.

Terrible. Wind the club up. Better wind up Hawthorn and Carlton too.

#tarps

The whole Porter article was an insult by a bitter former Port man turned crowie.

Didn't we get a 38,000+ crowd at last years game against Freo too when we were well in finals contention? I'd be surprised if more than the 33 were Freo supporters, absolutely no noise at the ground.
