Fast forward 5 years and salivate at our centre bounce quaddy - Sean Darcy tapping down to Brayshaw, Cerra, Neale. Nom nom nom
 
Ross' message at the end of his launch speech about joining and enjoying the journey was really good. (paraphrasing a bit) "You enjoyed watching the growth of Pavlich & McPharlin, then Fyfe & Hill... and now you'll enjoy it with Brayshaw, Cerra and Crowden". Big wraps for Mitch being on that list. Clearly he's already on Ross' radar from his Peel performances.

Some excellent videos from some excellent leaders - Brayshaw may be the most articulate 18yo footballer I've ever heard speak.

Andy is almost as sexy as Luke is already. No homo. We are racking up the likable players these days.

Ross is right too. You don't get the satisfaction if you don't do your time in the trenches.

You can (and I suspect the 30k+ extra Tiger members this year attest to it), but you will be a hollow, soulless individual.

You might as well wait until it is clear who is going to win each year (roughly 3QT last year) and "support" them.

Yeah I don't mind Trav King at all - always seems pretty balanced. And actually knows who our players are.

I still have no idea where about on the ladder we'll finish. That Season Preview series has North, Carlton, Gold Coast, Brisbane at the bottom of the ladder (in that order from bottom to 15th). They have us at 13th - so a bit curious as to who they have at 14th (St Kilda perhaps?). I'll be a bit disappointed if we don't finish above all five of those teams. I'll also be disappointed if we don't finish above West Coast - I can really see them doing what we did in 2016 because they've lost a heap of experience, traded and drafted poorly, and just not developed their youth at all (eg East Perth and oldest B22 the past 2 years).

I suspect a lot of people are looking at last year's percentage and going that was the 2nd worst we've got minimal chance at climbing the ladder, but also not saying will drop down to bottom 2 either. Maybe they are right and it'll take another year for us to climb into the finals mix.

But I probably see us in a group with Collingwood, the Hawks and the Dogs - however unlike us I don't really see much scope for improvement for them. Not convinced about Port or Essendon yet either. Lots of hype given their trade periods but I just don't see them being vastly improved. Melbourne likely improvers but we say that every year and they still don't make finals so who knows? So that leaves Adelaide, Geelong, Richmond, Sydney & GWS and I can't see reasons why those teams will plummet so they should remain in the final 8 mix imo.

I'd be aiming for the 7th-12th range. More likely the bottom end but with a bit of luck (injuries etc) I wouldn't rule out September action.

Live pick trading....we have a first round and then a 5th round.

Any chance our first could be dealt in? Or would we do our 5th round for 2x7th round?

I hope not. Quality over quantity. We're having a laugh at WC for trading next years 1st rounder for a bunch of lesser picks. I hope we don't do the same.

Hopefully we can grab a top talent plus Carter. Happy to try and use 2019 picks though. We should be on the rise by then.
 
I reckon the stats show that picks 40+ are pretty similar in terms of likelihood of a good player. They also show that top 5 in particular but even top 10 are much more likely so expect Lloyd to hang onto our first. Happy to see us trading earlier future picks for multiple current later picks. Getting the points for Carter will be the interesting part. Hopefully the bid doesn't come too early.

Good to see us trying to stay ahead of the curve.

Apparently Bailey Banfield could give him a real run for the title, which is just another bonus for the club.

Agree. Although Bailey isn't 18 ;) Could just be the positivity and optimism at this time of the footy year but I don't remember having seen such depth on the leadership front. And not just that, the professionalism and attitudes across most of the playing group, especially of our draftees, is very high. Even watching Jones at the WAFL the other day - you just knew by watching him that he wants to put everything into every performance, and yet he knows he likely has a long wait for any AFL opportunity. Colour me impressed.

Not sure we'll see live pick trading until next year's draft (not this year's). Although we might start with limited picks again assuming we trade future picks for more currency in this year's draft (which I think we'll definitely do).

But a downgrade from say pick 5 to pick 10, if we thought it would get us one of Hill or O'Reilly, plus currency for Carter, could emerge.
